Ted Cruz says he would have no problem with a contested convention over the summer in the event neither he nor Donald Trump secures enough delegates before then to lock up the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump suggested Wednesday morning on "Fox and Friends" that Cruz was making the statement "because he had such a bad night last night."

60% of Mississippi Republicans hate Marco Rubio and Cruz wants him on the ticket to rob frontman Trump of his victory.
Cruz is now officially a member of the Washington cartel he’s always complaining about.
Remember that movie, “THE BIRDS”? :)
Au contraire: hooking up with a Bushie ensures that he’ll meet Mack the Knife at the appropriate moment and the GOPe will slide in their guy.
I don’t know what else Cruz can do realistically, but he has to know he’s being played. The fact that the thinks he’s smart enough to outwit all these people is itself a little scary.
Yes. A fun film. Scary too....reminds me of some “recent” FReepers!
LOL
You are boring me.
If Cruz has the most voter awarded delegates at the time of the convention, then he should be the nominee.
Those people who awarded delegates to Kasich and Rubio lost, and they don’t get to change their vote after the fact.
I really don’t get what is so hard for you to understand about what I am saying.
If the GOP fails to nominate the person that its base indicated it prefers by the process of election in this primary, then the GOP will probably lose its base, or a huge portion of it.
It is not important to me if Trump loses. What is important to me is that the GOP not betray its base.
Ted will not win a brokered convention. He is now part of the “stop Trump at any cost” machine. And whatever he can get in exchange for helping.
Just a few days ago he said there wouldn’t be a brokered convention because he was going to win.
Everyone needs to remember that voters are NOT delegates. All delegates are a part of the establishment. That’s how they got to be delegates. That’s not to say that some delegates aren’t Trump or Cruz supporters. But I’d bet very few of them are.
This is one of the reasons Kasich and Rubio want to stay in. They want their name on the ballot.
If neither on gets the 1237 on the first ballot then the gopE can wheel and deal and give it to Bush, Romney or even Boner.
If Romney is shoved down the throats of the Republican base,
there are LOT of Republicans that will abandon the party.
It SURELY will be suicidal for the Repugnicant puke elites to do this.
Of course he is. That was the plan all along.
That was basically what I meant. Ted is not who he portrays himself to be in my opinion.
He just needs to drop out.
Maybe this is his baby step
Outside of one or the other winning outright....thats how I want this to turn out.
I don’t have a problem with contested convention where the nomination is fought for between the top candidates in the delegate count if neither have the necessary minimum (in this case, 1237) for nomination. Happened in ‘76 with Ford and Reagan, with Ford obviously emerging the winner.
But I have a big problem with a brokered convention where the party establishment chooses anyone they damn well please outside of the top delegate winners, even if their choice didn’t participate in the primaries.
Trump gets NY. NOT even close. If I were to walk through the busiest upstate mall and chat up a person here and there and bring up Cruz’s name - I will get a blank stare.
Cruz is not even a minor factor in NY, and certainly not in the city.
Unless he wins Ohio, the math for the rest of the race won’t add up to 1,237.
You do know you are on a computer don’t you? And all of us reading this are on computers too?
Do you have no idea we that we can all look up your claim and prove it false?
Geez, it’s getting sychopantic around here lately.
In 2012 you needed 1,144...Romney got 1,575.
You Trump worshipers are starting to sound like Clinton lovers - what server? Oh, it’s a VRWC!
