In early January, 2016, after announcing his "executive actions on guns" and talking on CNN's "Town Hall Meeting," President Barack Obama admitted that when he and his wife Michelle were campaigning in the farmlands of Iowa years ago, Michelle mentioned that if they lived in a place so remote from police response, she would want to have a rifle or shotgun to protect herself and their children. Now that he and his family are closely surrounded for life by heavily armed Secret Service, it's apparently not an issue for him. But it still is for the rest of us.
Another significant revelation from Obama in January: While the opponents of gun owners' civil rights have long talked about "30,000 people a year killed by gun violence," and deceitfully avoided the common statistic that half or more of those deaths are suicides, the President himself admitted that two-thirds of those "gun deaths" were actually suicides. Suicide prevention is something most of the gun-banners have ignored, while the gun owners were doing something about it. For some time now, the New Hampshire Firearms Safety Coalition has proven itself a successful role model for convincing concerned, responsible individuals to offer to hold firearms for friends or relatives who had expressed self-destructive ideation. We'll never know how many lives have been saved by this route toward preventing "a permanent solution to a temporary problem." Ironically, the "universal background checks" the President angrily rebuked Republicans for blocking would have prevented those rescuers from taking guns from their depressed and suicidal friends and thus saving their lives, because they would have required a cumbersome legal procedure that, being permanent instead of temporary, would likely have been rejected by the person saved.

This article has a good point. By current CO law, I couldn’t hold a gun to keep it out of the hands of a suicidal friend.
What would prevent it? In Illinois gun owners are licensed so if you weren't, it would be a crime to hold the gun. What prevents it in CO?
We really do live far out from town. By the time the police
arrived here; the criminals would already have shot us.
So, we are armed. - A cop once told me to get myself a gun,
because when you’ve already been shot & are bleeding to
death & need a cop within just a few minutes, the cops are
ONLY an hour away.
CO requires all private transfers to go through an FFL for a background check.
He wants to grab them, analysis complete.
Problems with the law? Oh, where do I start. Say I go on a week long business trip. Does that mean my wife is now "in possession" of my firearms? Do I need a background check on her? What about my standard capacity magazines for my AR? We're no-longer supposed to buy/transfer mags with capacities over 15 rounds. Is leaving them with her an illegal transfer? (she loves my AR BTW, keeps it by her side of the bed...sigh) What if my wife and I go away for a week to celebrate our anniversary and have a friend stay at the house watching our pets? Do we need to simply put away the firearms we don't take with us? Lock them in a cabinet? Trigger lock them? What if we happen to trust our friend with our firearms and want him to be able to defend himself? (guess he could bring his own with but...)
The recent laws regarding magazine limits and transfers are idiotic and I know, I know {wink wink} they are being ignored and circumvented. Heck, our County Sheriff stood up in public (multiple times) and said the magazine laws are unenforceable and he has no intention of wasting any time/resource even attempting to enforce it.
(*) That is, provided that to the best of your knowledge the person is not legally barred from possessing a firearm.
Exactly. If he were to be completely honest - well, first, that might kill him 'cause I don't think he's been completely honest about anything for a couple of decades - but I digress. I would be willing to bet good money that what he really wants is no private firearms ownership, none, going even further than Great Britain and Australia. Not even hunting/long guns. No-one armed but the police and his brown-shirt gestapo wannabes. Oh, and the criminals...
Fast n Furious showed obamas’ position on guns quite clearly.
38,155 CCW permits now active in Cook County, Illinois.

There’s nothing to analyze.
obama is squarely against the constitution on virtually every, single point and that certainly includes the Second Amendment, one of his pet bugaboos.
Oh, that's cool. So Colorado registers your gun for you -- you don't have to register it, they make a list of your latitude, longitude (to four figures), your elevation, your income level, your political party, and what guns you own, without your ever having to set pencil to paper. How convenient! </s>
That's the next Obama project: Multiplying the grounds, reducing the bars to same, on which people might be debarred from their civil rights. The VA is already asking veterans whether they've felt or manifested depression, with a view to confiscating their firearms and impairing their 2A rights permanently.
Let's take turns guessing why the Regime is so interested in stripping veterans of their 2A rights.
Yes. In the big cities, the criminals are front-line social justice warriors, collecting reparations (what was that Trayvon crack about "no limits"?) and redeploying assets from white-privileged social malefactors to more-deserving "vunnables".
It is illegal to transfer a gun at all without a background check now. Hence I would have to convince said friend to visit a gun store with me and then legally transfer it.
White people = bad
No further analysis needed.
Mayor Rham has that many bodyguards?

If you're asking me, I'm not a lawyer, but if it's something that comes up I'd ask one.
I spend a little over half the year in Illinois. Illinois registers gun owners, you get a card called an FOID, Firearms Owners IDentification. My kids got an FOID before they got drivers licenses. Forget a weapon, if I left them in the car while I went to the washroom at a rest stop, their possession of a rifle cartridge unknown to them in the the trunk would be a misdemeanor, a handgun cartridge a felony. No, a gangbanger on the south or west side of Chicago won't do time for illegal possession of a firearm, but that's no matter. Prosecutorial discretion, which in areas with liberal prosecutors it's a risk. Without an FOID my wife couldn't put a firearm in the safe legally. These laws are absurd. Don't start me on traveling, I like to camp a lot. Last time I went to CO I flew, and went unarmed, though I don't remember why. Drive through MD, your handgun will be in one locked safe, your ammunition in another, in the trunk or out of drivers reach in a van/SUV. Yes, I bypass MD. That, and I don't go to places like Baltimore.
Postscript, That is, provided that to the best of your knowledge the person is not legally barred from possessing a firearm. Yes, it you "lend" a firearm to someone barred from possessing one, you're on your own. That's not unreasonable.
Should have included you in my post 19. Sorry to hear that. I presume you mean a federal check. In Illinois you can pass a federal check but be barred from owning any firearm anyway. Mostly mental health things, if you’re an alcoholic don’t get inpatient treatment if you’re an Illinois resident. Unless you’re a state or local employee, your union will get your FOID back. Imagine, a leo with an alcohol problem loses his right to possess a firearm, and possibly his job, if he goes for treatment, inpatient.
