Cruz Likens Trump Loyalty Oath to Pledging to a King

Cruz Likens Trump Loyalty Oath to Pledging to a King by VAUGHN HILLYARD

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Ted Cruz equated Donald Trump's loyalty pledge to subjects declaring their devotion to a king on Tuesday.

"The idea that a candidate running for office would want people to pledge loyalty to him like subjects to a king," Cruz began telling reporters. "Well, we've had seven years of a president who thinks he's an emperor."

Cruz continued: "I raise my hand and I give an oath to you, to the people. That's who's working for whom."

The pledge, which Trump has used at recent rallies, requires his supporters to raise their hands and pledge loyalty to his presidential campaign. It has drawn comparisons to rallies during Nazi Germany, a connection Trump called "ridiculous" during an interview on TODAY.

Cruz repeated his sentiments at a later event in Kannapolis, North Carolina, telling the crowd that Trump's calls for loyalty struck him "as profoundly wrong."

Trump's efforts to lock down support coincides with a surge from Cruz, who has now beaten Trump in seven states and hopes to further cut down Trump's delegate lead over the critical week ahead.

We’ll see if “Trump acts like a king” does.

Yet Cruz was raised by Rafael Cruz as the anointed "Seven Mountains" "King of Government" to rule the World and trigger the Second Coming of Christ.

How can you stomach that heresy?

No, he asks them if they are going to go out and vote for him. Big difference. He doesn’t ask them to pledge loyalty to his campaign. Some people are twisters of the facts and they are not happy unless twisting something. It’s what they do.

Wasn’t Ted one of them who raised their hand in the second debate when the moderator asked them to raise their hand if they would support whomever was the GOP nominee was?

First I heard of this oath.

With Trump we are headed down a road we do NOT want to travel.

There are three allegiances; God, Family and Country. Not to a Presidential Candidate or dictator wannabe.

Mountain out of a molehill. They do it all the time with left-wing advocacy meetings.

It's to keep out the protesters and opposition spies.

What a bunch of hyped up noise. I’ve heard Trump ask people to pledge to come out and vote several times before this latest grasping of straws to turn it into an issue.

What I’m REALLY interested in hearing, is all about Cruz being the ‘Anointed King that’s going to bring the riches back to the Priests’. I’d like to know how his Seven Mountains Dominion Theology is going to fit into the presidency. Care to fill us in on that instead of a non burger like the article you referenced?

There is now an all-out effort to portray Donald as an example of the worst things we know on earth. I’ve heard Nuremberg, Nazi, Hitler, Mussolini . . . wait, there must be more. They’re trying to make these photos of people RAISING THEIR HANDS into proof of the Nazi salute. Watch for a photo that “shows” goose-stepping.

Next: They’ll find something that shows he’s ISIS itself, the very thing he is the sworn enemy of.

Don’t be complicit with the crack-brained media, Cruz folks, no matter how much you dislike Trump. If you do, you’re on the wrong side.

This is typical Cruz. Seizing on each and every thing that happens, each day, and trying to blow nothing up into something. And the message is always the same: Trump is Hitler. Trump wants to be king. Trump is a fascist.

We’ve had an infiltration of muslim brotherhood all throughout the government and state department but they’re not freaked out about that, they are freaked out about a pledge to ‘go vote’. SMH.

I do not believe this of Donald Trump.

However, I do believe he has an ego as big as Obama and as narcissistic.

He has made promises that he will not be able to achieve without bypassing Congress as Obama has done.

This is not a Constitutional republican form of Government that the Founders envisioned and this is why I cannot support him

"I raise my hand and I give an oath to you, to the people. That's who's working for whom."

Like taking the oath of office on stage administered by Chief Justice Beck?

I'd comment on the Nazi comparison but frankly, it isn't even worth wiping one's butt with it.

Cruz is the ultimate TROJAN HORSE, and a sock puppet for Bush.

Cruz worked for W Bush just like his wife.

Why does Cruz never talk about his time at the Bush Whiite House???

Jeb never mentioned it too. Never and why???

So many conservatives are getting fooled by this Canadian that is not qualified to run for office.

Oh and you can sure bet as the Sun will come up that the DNC and the GOPe will shop a federal judge to disqualify Cruz so they can slip in the criminal Hillary.

Yeah mission accomplished.

Don’t be stupid and vote for Cruz.

I agree with you about the illegal executive orders.

But as far as the ego business, how do you think someone would be able to do what Trump has done, to go outside the system and start carrying the election away from the ones who thought they owned it, without a mighty self-confidence?

In the face of all the attacks against him, he has shown a strength of character and will seen in very few people.

Call it ego if you like. Everyone tosses that term around very freely, but when Freud coined the word, it simply meant the part of the human spirit that gets things done, as opposed to the id, which is pure desire, and the superego, which makes us aware of a higher purpose than getting what we want.

If you watch Trump, and I think many do not, you see that much of this so-called ego is either a restoring of people’s trust in qualities in him that have been torn down spitefully by others, or else tongue-in-cheek, as when he talks about how rich he is or how handsome. He never laughs at his own jokes and the audience doesn’t always fully appreciate them either, but there is less seriousness there, often, than is seen by the casual observer.

I know narcissists. No matter what you say to them, their next sentence always begins with “I.” They see absolutely everything in terms of themselves. You can say, “Look! That man in the blue sweater just got hit by that car!” and they’ll say, “I had a blue sweater one time . . .” They are trapped in a loop and can very rarely see outside themselves to the other person. This is not what we have in Donald Trump. He is task-oriented, not self-oriented.

Anyway, I hope we’ll see you on the Trump threads someday soon.

Cruz is getting pathetic as some of the other Trump detractors and pathetic as well. Should be easy enough to keep them - they are as rabid at ignoring his flaws as they claim the Trump backers are at doing the same with Trump - they just can’t see it and BTW, we know Trump ain’t perfect - we want to WIN this thing and spank the RNC/GOPe as hard as possible - Trump fills both sides of that objective (hence the GOPe trying to salvage Cruz as a way to “save their bacon” — why doesn’t that factoid ring any alarm bells in the “Cruz or Lose” (gotta cling to that word “lose”) crowd?

that a candidate running for office would want people to pledge loyalty to him like subjects to a king," Cruz began telling reporters. "Well, we've had seven years of a president who thinks he's an emperor."

Considering his dominionism background and what his father has publicly proclaimed about his son, without a doubt, this is one of the best examples of projection I've ever seen from a politician.

The daddy's lifelong teaching has obviously been internalized. And I suddenly feel immense justification for the 'Creepy factor' my TV exudes when he shows up.

In lieu of CRBA let’s see a Certificate of Citizenship or

* birth certificate (we’ve seen this)
* birth certificate of US parent (we’ve seen this)
* marriage/divorce certificate(s) of US parent
* documentation of any name changes of US parent
* proof of US residency of US parent

We shouldn’t have to guess about any circumstances.

He presumably although not certainly is a citizen and eligible to be a Senator or Representative, but he is not nor could he ever be eligible to be President.
