Climate change could see a new risk slithering into Canada: snakes.
New research has found that rising temperatures could drive several deadly species northward to new areas, bringing them across the U.S. border with Canada. By 2050, some snakes could make their way as far north as Alberta, Quebec and southern Ontario.
Researchers at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute used climate models to predict the ranges of more than 75 poisonous snake species across the Americas.
For this study, researchers looked at different scenarios for each of the snake species - one in which the world cut down its dependency on carbon fuels and the other in which it didn't and it continued to warm.
For Jeremy Kerr, professor of biology at the University of Ottawa, snakes face greater risks from humans than vice-versa.
"For snakes, much like other species, it is adapt or die," he said.
For Kerr, the real message of this study is that "climate change is a dangerous experiment that creates real impacts in terms of biological diversity and we will be better off not changing climate than thinking about models of managing snake bite risks."

Actually, the farming potential in the northern tier of states would be wonderful. The entire global warming lie was exposed by noaa this week when it was revealed ( not by Noaa) that it was clearly warmer pre-1979 decade. The government cut that part of the data off to hide it from the public because the want to control your life and estate based on a lie in order to transfer wealth.
We have been reading about those promising to leave the US if Trump becomes president.
So, Slithering North would be a good description of those venomous snakes as they slither north.
When they bite does it make your blood freeze?
Is there anything bad these days that can’t be related to “climate change?”
We’ll wipe them out just like the old days.
“Biodiversity” is what they call an environment with all sorts of different types of plants and critters. Typically a good think. Well - except for the venomous snakes.
Although my philosophy with them is leave them alone and they’ll leave me alone.
I read an another article years ago and it was saying how great it was that some rare colorful song-bird was expanding its range north into the U.S.A. In the same magazine it was saying how bad it was that the moose population was trending north into Canada due to globull warming!
And then again, maybe not.
Oh please (not you OP, the dummy who is advancing this theory). If they really cared about our well-being, they wouldn’t be deliberately importing people with diseases either never seen in this country, long ago eradicated in this country, or the ones we already have plenty of from domestic perverts.
North from where? Oh yes, where humans live with them now. Duh.
If this is global warming, you sure couldn’t prove it by the cool weather here on Southern California, forty degree temps at night.
That may not be cool by other folk’s standards, but this winter was the coolest I remember for some time.
“Climate Change” has nothing to do with it. Maybe, The Plagues of Egypt are being visited upon Canada. Next up:
Plagues of Blood, Frogs, Lice, Flies, Pestilence, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness, Death of Firstborn.
The only possible safeguard is to send containers full of money to third world flytraps. That might stave off disaster for a while ...

And I wouldn’t put it past them to deliberately import exotic venomous snales from other places and set them loose. We already have idiots who, legally and illegally, import highly venomous snakes not native to this country, or even this continent or hemisphere. I’m sure most of them wouldn’t survive if set loose, but I wouldn’t bet my life that none of them would, in the right place, as seen from the infestation in the Everglades of constrictors which were released there.

Spiders will not be migrating. They are perfectly content to be cold. My whole life I thought they died out in the winter and repopulated in the summer. Then I put a surveillance camera overlooking my driveway. Only to have spiders build nests on it.
Spiders are active and will build webs and move around(in front of the camera) at 5F above zero. I then wondered what they would eat when it’s so cold, until I noticed that a 5-10F they were still catching small bugs in their webs.
I am amazed at how hardy these critters are.
Get these MF snakes off of my MF plain!
