Trump does better in open primary contests where members of either party can vote Of course he does.... it's "Operation Chaos" in reverse.

Or Trump does better in primaries, and contested states, Cruz wins in deep red states and caucuses.
LOTS of different ways to slice the data.

I think he will too.
The caucuses were heavily influenced by party officials.
That could only work so long...
Between tomorrow and the 22nd, we’ll know.
Either Cruz can compete one on one, or he can’t.

What is so disturbing is it seems most of America is willing to keep on the path to destruction. The only chance we have is to destroy the communists Democrats and the GOPe. And the power structure is so huge that Trump may not make it. So, to hell with making Americas great again. Go for it and get another 4 years of crap. Wish you luck.
Only hope, Trump for President.

The more obvious conclusion is that Cruz does better in caucuses and Trump does better in elections. All but two of Cruz’ wins have been caucuses, and all but two of Trump’s wins have been elections.

I think that the biggest difference between Trump and Cruz victories isn’t one of open vs. closed primaries, but of primaries vs. caucuses. Since so few people actually vote in a caucus, having a good ground game and meeting one-on-one with local politicians, activists, and journalists is critical. Cruz has a strong ground game in caucus states, Trump does not. On the other hand, in big primary states Trump can bank on higher name recognition and media exposure.

Trump does better in “open” primary contests where members of either party can vote, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tends to do better in "closed" contests limited only to registered Republicans. Trump does better in Real World primaries.
Cruz does better in Safe Zone primaries.

“Cruz sees success in GOP-only contests”....
If anyone is surprised by that statement, they have been sleeping under a rock for some time. The GOP and RNC have been working overtime to figure a way to defeat Trump.

I think GOP primaries should be for Republicans only. Democrats should not be voting in GOP primaries.
That seems so obvious to me, I don’t know why I should have to say it.

Well, from that tidbit, you can extrapolate that Trump would get many crossovers in a general election. That’s what it takes to win.

I think Trump will do just fine in GOP only primaries too. Well so far the only closed contests Trump has won were NV (kind of a gimme for him), Kentucky, and Louisiana. In the last two, he lost a big lead at the last minute and barely got any more delegates than Cruz in KY. Now that the field is finally thinning, a lot more of the "not Trump" vote is consolidating.
