A pattern is starting to emerge that holds both promise and peril for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump:
Trump does better in open primary contests where members of either party can vote, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tends to do better in "closed" contests limited only to registered Republicans.

Of course he does.... it's "Operation Chaos" in reverse.
Or Trump does better in primaries, and contested states, Cruz wins in deep red states and caucuses.
LOTS of different ways to slice the data.
The general is an open election.
Zero evidence of that. I’ll go a step further and say that democrats aren’t smart enough to even pull that off.
Trump barely beat Rubio (3%) in Virginia, an open state....
Which is why you want a candidate that performs better in an open (ie general) election.
LOL! It’s so obvious it has to be stated or no one will think of it.
Thank you.
KY and LA both closed
This is the same BS that people have been banned from FR for in the past - the mere suggestion that conservatives should nominate someone who was moderate enough to draw Democrat votes in the general election would get the Zot. Crazy times.
I think he will too.
The caucuses were heavily influenced by party officials.
That could only work so long...
Between tomorrow and the 22nd, we’ll know.
Either Cruz can compete one on one, or he can’t.
Berry’s management: Hide your breath mints!
Doubt it.
Thats a huge number of voters and “chaos” operations cant be done quietly.
And we are talking much more about Independents than Democrats.
Sorry, wrong thread :(
Cruz has only won two primary states, that;s it.
Never won a single county in some southern states.
Cacuses have nmsotly gone to Cruz, but some to Trump
I see FOX being FOX again
I’ve found that Trump does better in states that he wins and not as well in states that he loses.
“The general is an open election.”
Ok, now THAT single-handily won the thread.
But but but, the GOPe/Jeb! strategy was to lose the primary to win the general. So, it’s OK for the establishment, but not for Trump? I’m so confused!
We don’t want any dems to vote for any repubs. /s
