Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's claim Sunday that his self-named university got a "A rating" from the Better Business Bureau is true but that's only half the story.
In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Trump defended Trump University, which largely shut down in 2011 and is the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging false marketing for what was essentially an entrepreneurship seminar, not a college.
The course got a "98 percent approval rating and high marks" from participants, Trump said on "Meet the Press," adding: "We have an A from the Better Business Bureau."
Trump repeated the BBB claim twice more in the same response.
The BBB said a statement to NBC News on Sunday that Trump University currently has no rating because "the company is believed to be out of business."
But when it was assessed by BBB Serving Metro New York, the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative the name under which Trump University has most recently operated had, indeed, gotten the BBB's top rating in the past, it said.
In fact, according to the rating agency, Trump appears to have undersold things at times in the past, his "university" had an A-plus rating.

Bloody liar!
it was sleazy, but who gives a ####??
I hate to say it, but I don’t know any VERY wealthy person, 30 million and up, that isn’t a little sleazy or ruthless.
this is a non issue.
and i’m a cruz fan.
geez, why do republicans have to be ####ing boy scouts to the media, but not the dems?
I did sleazy things when I was a manage of the graphics department overseeing 70 people.
I mean, not ALL sleazy, lol, I just made a few extra bucks :)
It really wasn’t sleazy, maybe lazy. These agencies can’t report what they don’t know about, and when companies don’t provide information they get bad ratings or no rating at all (see report on other thread). Trump said once they realized they had a D- rating they provided BBB with the information requested and it was elevated to an A rating.
This is all insignificant crap. Like “Trump Airlines” no longer exists. Neither does TWA, PanAm, Eastern, Continental, or Northwestern. All successful businesses manage their portfolios and if products lasted forever I’d be typing this on Windows 3.1.
lazy is better.
and as a Cruz supporter, I don’t give a ### that Trump did this.
it’s nonsense.
Marking this. What a surprise. She made herself one of the candidates and started debating Trump. Disgraceful. Where was the screen for any of the other three candidates?
No, Megyn, did not lie. Trump University was a fake and got a B- from the BBB
It was only AFTER Trump changed the business to a different name, that BBB gave an A rating.
Let’s not try to twist the real facts to support a con man.
So, if John Smith marries Mary Jones,, and Mary Jones changes her name to Mary Smith, you believe she is not the same person anymore?
Good question to ask of BBB.

Fact-check: How did the Better Business Bureau rate Trump University?

With Trump University at the center of an ongoing scandal, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is finding himself on the defensive about the business venture.
“We have a 98 percent approval rating, we have an A from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and people like it,” Trump said at the GOP primary debate Thursday.
Rival Marco Rubio said Trump’s claim was “false. That’s a D-. Go on my website.”
Fox News host and debate moderator Megyn Kelly intervened, confirming Rubio was right, and “the rating from the BBB was a D- and it was a result of a number of complaints they received.”
Rubio also pointed out that Trump had claimed that he handpicked instructors at the school. Factcheck.org, however, pointed out that in a deposition, a top school executive admitted that no, “none of the instructors” had been chosen by Trump.
In reality, the school, which is currently facing a class action lawsuit of 5,000 people who say they were scammed, has received several ratings from the consumer interests organization.
According to a PolitiFact investigation, the BBB had given Trump’s school ratings ranging from an A+ to D-. But the most recent rating recorded, in 2010, was a “D-” rating.
“Fox News host and debate moderator Megyn Kelly intervened, confirming Rubio was right, and the rating from the BBB was a D- and it was a result of a number of complaints they received.
You mean moderators are supposed to behave like potted plants?
Note: the above A rating references information received in May 2011.
Once again the bleach blonde ditz does her homework
Noww, if the Whore and Specs were going after your guy, it would have been different, eh?
