Donald Trump on Thursday night said he's changing his stance on visas for highly skilled immigrant workers.
"Im changing it, and Im softening the position because we need to have talented people in this country," Trump said at the Fox News GOP debate in Michigan.
Trump's comments came after debate moderator Megyn Kelly raised the issue. Kelly noted that Trump had previously opposed those visas, saying they "decimate American workers," but appeared to change his position at an earlier CNBC debate. Trump said recipients of the visas go to high-profile U.S. universities and "desperately" want to remain in the country. He said they should be allowed to stay and work in places that need high-skilled workers, such as Silicon Valley.
"We need highly-skilled people in this country," Trump said. "For that purpose, we absolutely have to be able to keep the brainpower in this country."
I agree 100%
Look Trump sometimes does not elaborate on what he’s saying. What he has been trying to get across in almost every debate is that the people that we allow to come to the US and stay here need to be bright, well educated types who will not be on the welfare train and will assimilate. People who will add something to the country and be productive. That’s why he’s OK with the H1 visas. I agree with him. We just need to limit how many can come annually and American workers get first dibs all all jobs. I believe Trump has already talked about this.
Trump can’t come right out and say it but I can. We have to stop taking the scum of the earth into the US. Its going to ruin us financially and culturally. That’s whats coming across the border. That big beautiful door is going to be a lot bigger going out than coming back in. We have to stop with the welfare and the anchor babies. Its killing us. I believe Trump means to do that.
So did Cruz, didn’t he?
Nick, I’m an old south guy and I will tell you that Senator Sessions is very respected by his intellect and ability.
I do not live in Alabama but you are disparaging a conservative that wants that damn border protected.
Find a different tree.
You say “Trump cannot come out and say it,”!and I say”why not”?
“Why are foreigners taking up those positions in American universities?”
Because they pay full boat in cash. They will also probably graduate.
Thank you. The Donald is irritating me with this and I like him.
So you are endorsing Kasich?
Why is it bad when Cruz did, but it’s good when Trump does?
Some were exiled from here for calling out W. And his excusers. It got ugly. If you take a look in the archieves you’ll find some similar posters that loved W. And rove who now are drinking the trump koolaid.
You are mistaken about your foreign workers being a good thing when your countrymen and women are out of work.
Trump’s press release tonight:

Donald J. Trump Position on Visas
“Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

You are not reading what I am saying. It’s not about me. Aren’t Alabaman going to be miffed when if they find out that Sessions made a deal with the open borders devil? If Trump gets elected, he will show himself to be worse on immigration than any of the candidates including Hillary, and definitely Sanders.
Or they drop out and fly airplanes into buildings.
If I want a labourer couldn’t I get one on a H-1 visa?
What kind of laborer? It would be awful expensive. If you bring someone in on an H-1B it costs you $15k-$20k, plus, they can take their H-1B to another employer immediately. What kind of laborer would that make sense for?
Mitt was running for pres in 12, trump publicly said his proposed immigration policy was mean to Mexicans and would cost him the Hispanic vote.
It’s public knowledge you can find it if you really wanted to know or admit it.... but you already know that Don’ t you?
Of course. Not a plan for the survival of an American culture, an American middle class, or even excellent universities.
Short term riches, long term disaster.
I will not lecture on the good of H1b visas and I have been leaning toward Trump. If Donald goes wonky on trade may as well go back to Cruz. The immigrant population is too big and destroying us.
So Trump is aligned with Senator Sessions’ 2015 bill for the ‘highly skilled’, and Trump’s press release tonight reflects it.
