Donald Trump on Thursday night said he's changing his stance on visas for highly skilled immigrant workers.
"Im changing it, and Im softening the position because we need to have talented people in this country," Trump said at the Fox News GOP debate in Michigan.
Trump's comments came after debate moderator Megyn Kelly raised the issue. Kelly noted that Trump had previously opposed those visas, saying they "decimate American workers," but appeared to change his position at an earlier CNBC debate. Trump said recipients of the visas go to high-profile U.S. universities and "desperately" want to remain in the country. He said they should be allowed to stay and work in places that need high-skilled workers, such as Silicon Valley.
"We need highly-skilled people in this country," Trump said. "For that purpose, we absolutely have to be able to keep the brainpower in this country."
Trump made this same flip in an earlier debate. I bet Sessions came out of his chair. This is one detail of his written plan he has never accepted, and he continues to hurt himself with it.
I expect Sessions will try to orient Trump on this detail, again. But this won’t impact the campaign.

DONALD J. TRUMP POSITION ON VISAS
Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.
Coming Soon:
#167 It means he’s an orange gumby with no core principles.
Why? Sessions can't be surprised. Sessions is 69 years old. if he hasn't learned about people by now, he is never going to. If Trump actually were to be elected, Sessions will lose his seat. He won't be able to set foot in Alabama without being tarred and feathered, when they see the pin in the poke he bought. Sessions better pray that Trump loses.
Actually, if anyone was paying attention, Trump has been “softening” on illegal immigration since before Iowa.
1. Build a wall, make Mexico pay for it. Keep out the rapist etc.
2. Build a wall with a “great big beautiful door” to let the “good ones” back in.
3. Build a wall with a “great big beautiful door” to “expedite” the return of the “good ones”.
4. Naming a price to build 1000 miles of the wall, because we do not need to build the wall all across the 2000 mile southern border, due to natural barriers. (He is right about natural barriers, but I do not believe it is fully one half).
There you have him evolving, all before Iowa.
Of course. Did any thinking person think he was not going to change his stance? He's been doing it all his life.
Nothing to see here.
Move on.
So then can you please tell me what talented workers in SILICON VALLEY he was talking about!?
If Trump stops being a screaming nationalist he loses. He is not as smart as Cruz or Hillary’s handlers.
This is EXACTLY the same thing that happened with GWB in his 2nd election. We got all hot and bothered cheering him on and floating on cloud 9. Then he got elected and suddenly, he was a "compasionate conservative," passed a half trillion dollar prescription drug bill, was in favor of immigration, the whole smack.
Now FReeps are doing the exact thing again. Trump isn't giving ANY specifics. He's insulting people, judging them, calling them names telling them they're nasty, etc. but talking issues??? Not so much.
I'm not saying that we need to ignore him and let Hillary! get elected, but open your eye's folks and don't wrap him in this God-like aura of conservativism!
#198 he blasted Mitts immigration proposal in 12 claiming it was mean. You must have missed that little event. /s
I have a strong feeling you know jack-shit about Sen. Sessions or Alabama.
Trump’s like Gumby, only orange. Trump’s Pokey.
If Trump gets elected, I think the people of Alabama will figure out quickly that Sessions was totally gullible.
“#198 he blasted Mitts immigration proposal in 12 claiming it was mean. You must have missed that little event. /s”
I am sorry, can you give this more context?
Yeah, 'cause heavens knows we could NEVER train American's to do the job!
#211 he will evolve to allow for tourist industry abuse.
Bank on it.
Same, I loathe the joke that is the H1B visa scam.
However, I believe what Trump said was that he was for keeping foreign students educated in American Universities The best and the brightest if they want to stay here for jobs. To be honest, I do agree with that stance for obvious reasons.
The greater abomination is the scam that takes place every day in the USA like the recent Disney firings. I am 100% sure Trump is against that form of H1B.
Hopefully whoever is elected (Trump or Cruz I hope - in that order :) ) will sort this out correctly and as soon as possible.

this is sessions’ influence on trump ...
Sessions introduced the bill along with Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. The legislation was inspired by cases at Southern Con Edison and Florida Disney where American workers were forced to train their foreign replacements before being fired.
If the bill passes Congress, H1-B visas would be cut from 65,000 to 50,000.
Ron Hira, an H1-B visa expert at Howard University, said the proposal by Sessions and Nelson would stop companies from taking advantage of the current program as Florida Disney and Southern Consolidated Edison did.
“More than 80 percent of H-1B visas are awarded to workers being paid less than the average wage in their field. Many of those H-1B workers have lower skills than the American counterparts they are going to replace, and the American workers often have to train their H-1B replacements,” he said. “Instead of giving visas to foreign workers with ordinary skills, this bill would allocate the visas only to the most highly skilled foreign workers making it more difficult for employers to abuse the program.”

Cruz changed his H1-B position at least 6 maybe 10 months ago after finding out how Disney and many other companies are abusing the law.
I know it is tough for you trumpanzees to keep up with what is going on but jeese, it was almost a year ago.
Blah, blah, blah. Sessions probably came out of his chair in some exasperation because Trump contradicted his written policy on this detail before and Sessions met with him soon afterwards.
But none of the three globalists still in the race are even worth considering. Open borders and one bad trade deal after another with either of the three.
