Donald Trump released his health care plan Wednesday evening, finally detailing the way in which he would fulfill his campaign trail promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In a seven-point plan posted to his website and publicized by a tweet, Trump says he will do away with the individual health insurance mandate, as well as allow competition over states lines for health care plans, and block grant Medicaid to the states, allowing them to follow through on his prescription to "eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources."
The decision to go against the idea of an individual mandate is new for Trump, who told CNN during a February town hall before the South Carolina primary that he "likes the mandate" and that makes him "a little bit different" than other conservatives.
But Wednesday's plan outlines as the first point on the list: "Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to."
He counters that, however, by saying individuals should be allowed to "fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns."
The third bullet point goes on to say that "we must make sure no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance" and that "we must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it."
Further, Trump ties illegal immigration to his healthcare plan, writing "providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually ... If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country,

Ever haggle over the purchase price of a big ticket item with money you don't have unless you borrow it? It doesn't work well.
I've seen a $185K house go to a cash buyer for $97K because they couldn't pay their mortgage. A home buyer cannot take advantage of a down market in housing (and thus assist in a faster recovery) with ten or 20 percent down and a mortgage on the balance. A down market finds an immediate dramatic reduction in qualified buyers, thus the down dwell is long and very very slow in any climb back up.

This plan gets the government out. Plus hes cutting the personal income tax. And drastically cutting corporate taxes. Cutting regulations. Cutting the EPA. Reworking the trade deals. Wants to bring back capital, bring back manufacturing, bring back jobs! Secure the borders. Deport the illegals. End anchor babies. All of that will boost the economy and save hundreds of billions. Not to mention saving our country. Again, infinitey better than anything Hillary would do.
I agree, it all sounds wonderful. And there is not one single bit of evidence that Trump will do any of it.
Trump supporters are quick to point out the many flaws and mistakes in Ted Cruz's past, while Donald Trump had Hillary front and center at his wedding and has been a democrat up until the moment he wanted to “run on the republican ticket”
I truly believe emotions and anger are getting in the way of judgment here, Jim. I love ya dude! This is a great forum you have provide, but I really think you are just working on hope and change with Trump.
But, I'll cast my vote for him if he gets the nomination and pray you are right.

Flip Flop Trump again. He stated just recently he wanted the individual mandate in place. He also sounded like Sanders and Clinton whining about the “insurance companies” that are his straw men.
He is wrong again. It’s the states that wanted to control health insurance in their states and lobbying Congress to get the ability to deny selling across state lines. Sort of like a tariff among states which is unconstitutional.
I’m sure he’ll come out with a different posistion in another week.

The bit about the mandate is a lying canard
Without the mandate there is no way to pay for pre-existing conditions.
People can just wait until they get sick to get covered.

Fools gold. every politician claims that they can reduce waste, fraud and abuse. It is a glittering generality.
Well, Trump is NOT a politician and he’s the ONLY candidate that has ever ran/owned a private business ~ where he actually REDUCED WASTE, CAME IN UNDER BUDGET AND COMPLETED PROJECTS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.
Only a fool would call that fools gold. That is money on the bottom line!!

I’ve heard Trump say, like all politicians, demand pre-existing conditions be covered.
It’s an emotional issue played by liberals.
Can you get paid for a house fire or car wreck because you have a pre-existing house or car? No. That’s how stupid the argument is.
Tired of all the silly commercials on TV trying to get you to buy car, home, boat, etc. insurance? They don’t have to worry about pre-exisiting crap, state lines or Congress regulating the industry to death and the FREE market is wide open.
Why is health insurance so differnt? Socialism!

Please provide a link to your Teddy Boys health care plan.
Don’t have one because there should not be one.
It is not the governments job to provide health care plans. period!
You got that? Read the Constitution, when you find the mandate there, get back with me.

If they arent, you either create a risk pool for them or have the government take care of this segment through expanded Medicaid/Medicare. IOW, big government solutions. Under what provision of the Constitution does the federal government have authority to create a risk pool or provide health insurance to people?
I know we have been doing this for decades, but is it constitutional?
Just Askin.

Looks like they'll probably make a deal to create a pool for pre-existing.
The mandate was the kingpin to get all your account numbers and assets, etc etc.
