Since he is against the individual mandate, what is his proposal for people who have pre-existing conditions to get insurance?
The mandate was the lynchpin to forcing insurance companies to take people with pre-existing conditions? Are those people going to fall through the cracks?
Just askin.
A minor inconvenience. I’ll take it. Don’t forget, he’s also cutting the income tax. And doing a whole lot of other things to boost the economy and bring back jobs. All boats rise in a rising tide. Most of his plans are Reaganesque.
What’s wrong with individuals?
Obamacare seeks to force every one into a one-sized fits all plan.
That’s why Trump has pledged to repeal and replace Obamacare.
The government should ensure competition, enforce quality standards and protect consumers from fraud.
None of that is constitutionally the governments business.
They never do.
Healthcare Reform to Make America Great Again - Seven Point Plan All are sound market bases ideas. I especially like the HSA, Health Saving Accounts plan.
Thats why Trump has pledged to repeal and replace Obamacare.
It is the replace I have problems with.
The government has no constitutional authority to be in the healthcare business.
Repeal only.
People who can’t afford it can enroll in expanded Medicaid/Medicare.
No one in this country will be left to die in the streets because they’re sick or can’t afford treatment.
Private health insurance can cover healthy people who can and should pay for their health care.
“People on welfare programs for their health care dont have to pay co-pays. Nice, huh?”
And all but the most TRULY helpless should go to the back of the line with priority given for our Vets to flood private sector Healthcare until Gov. (VA) gets there act together. When the unwashed Peasants get pissed, watch how fast the Politicians scream for change and accountability at the VA. Just how pathetic and sad is that.
Looks to me like he’s getting the government out (for most taxpayers anyway).

You have not read the plan.
1- Completely repeal Obamacare.
Typical Texan ... too much pride to admit when they are wrong.
From the tenth debate Texas CNN transcript:
RUBIO: The individual mandate. He said he likes the individual mandate portion of it, which I dont believe that should be part of it. That should not remain there. I think heres what we need to replace it with.
We need to repeal Obamacare completely and replace it with a system that puts Americans in charge of their health care money again. If your employer wants to buy health insurance for you, they can continue to do so from any company in America they want to buy it from.
Otherwise, your employers can provide you health care money, tax- free, not treated as income, and you can use that money only for health care, but you can use it to fund health care any way you want, fully fund a health savings account, the combination of a health savings account or a private plan from any company in any state in the country.
And if you dont have that, then you will have a refundable tax credit that provides you health care money to buy your own health care coverage. And that, I think, is a much better approach than Obamacare, which, by the way, isnt just bad for health care, its bad for our economy. It is a health care law that is basically forcing companies to lay people off, cut peoples hours, move people to part-time. It is not just a bad health care law, it is a job-killing law. And I will repeal it as president and we will replace it with something substantially better for all Americans.
(APPLAUSE)
BASH: Mr. Trump, Senator Rubio just said that you support the individual mandate. Would you respond?
TRUMP: I just want to say, I agree with that 100 percent, except pre-existing conditions, I would absolutely get rid of Obamacare. Were going to have something much better, but pre-existing conditions, when Im referring to that, and I was referring to that very strongly on the show with Anderson Cooper, I want to keep pre-existing conditions.
I think we need it. I think its a modern age. And I think we have to have it.
The bit about the mandate is a lying canard, btw. At first glance this looks doable. Infinitely better than what we have now.
He’s taking the government out.
“. . .and doing a whole lot of other things to boost the economy and bring back jobs. . .”
_____
A whole lot of other things Jim? And since when is it the governments business to create jobs or provide health care?
And Trump is nothing like Reagan, who believed in less government, and was a humble man.
>>People on welfare programs for their health care dont have to pay co-pays. Nice, huh?<<
That’s not entirely true. Some states do demand that people with medicaid pay a copay on their meds. I have to also.
Many low income people with medicare still have to pay 20% of their hospital bills along with a monthly premium over $100 per month which is murder on an $900 per month income, or less. And not all meds are covered, either.
It’s not like elderly and disabled can just run right out there and get a job to cover this stuff. Some can, many can’t. And getting hired is yet another hurdle.
And furthermore, the state owns your house to pay back medicaid when you die.
Like it or not, we’re not going to return to status quo ante, which is gone.
We need to reform our health care system so it works with minimal government interference.
The government should make sure market players follow the rules, people know the plan they choose will provide the level of protection they need and that consumers don’t face fraud.
I think that’s as reasonable as it goes. The government should not be in the business of micromanaging health care or trying to run one-seventh of our economy.
It must vary from state program to state program. I know that in my doctor’s office they don’t have to pay the $25 office co pays or prescription co pays.
So you want the mortgage deduction done away with, right?
3 or 5 dollar co-pays for medicaid is not really a co pay at all...
