Donald Trump released his health care plan Wednesday evening, finally detailing the way in which he would fulfill his campaign trail promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In a seven-point plan posted to his website and publicized by a tweet, Trump says he will do away with the individual health insurance mandate, as well as allow competition over states lines for health care plans, and block grant Medicaid to the states, allowing them to follow through on his prescription to "eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources."
The decision to go against the idea of an individual mandate is new for Trump, who told CNN during a February town hall before the South Carolina primary that he "likes the mandate" and that makes him "a little bit different" than other conservatives.
But Wednesday's plan outlines as the first point on the list: "Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to."
He counters that, however, by saying individuals should be allowed to "fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns."
The third bullet point goes on to say that "we must make sure no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance" and that "we must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it."
Further, Trump ties illegal immigration to his healthcare plan, writing "providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually ... If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country,

The government has no business being in the health insurance business.
I dont care how good the plan is.>>> i agree but unless you kill off government they are embedded in this system. each state has it’s own dept of ins.

Im seeing a lot of Cruz supporters joining the GOPe RINOs in saying theyd vote for Hillary over Trump
No true conservative, Cruz supporter or otherwise, would ever vote for Hillary.
I get your position. Trump is a hammer who can destroy the establishment, in Washington and in the media. My concern is that he is not the conservative that he would have us all believe he is. Your concern is that Cruz doesn't have the force to take down the elites. However, we both have the same objective.

I guess I missed that part of the government proposal that kept the government out of the government proposal.

Trump has said, repeatedly, that he was NOT saying that he likes mandates, in the AC CNN town hall. He and AC were cross talking, when that was being discussed. He was finishing AC’s sentence.
I watched the town hall and never thought, for a second, that Trump has said he liked the mandates.
This falsehood that you’re posting has proven wrong, time and again, on the web. Here, let me help you with your mistaken post.....

Even AC hasn’t said that Trump said what you’ve claimed. Only the MSM/GOPee sites have tried to with this.

If people are gonna get to right off their healthcare premiums, doesn’t that mean that the government, we the people ,are paying for everyone’s healthcare?

two not an employee benefit like the socialists made under FDR
Health care/insurance should never have been tied to employment.

Yeah, I’m with you.
The Liberals have won the Health Care argument. How do I know? Read this plan and then the threads here - here at FR - embracing a government involved plan.
We would have lynched people 8 years ago for this plan. We would have called them Socialists for this very plan.
They’ve won. The Liberals have won the argument. Even a chunk of FR is now on board.

“Less than a week ago, however, Trump felt very differently. Asked by CNNs Anderson Cooper about what would happen to the insurance market without the laws health insurance requirement, Trump said, “Well I like the mandate.””
Where does he state pre-existing conditions? The question was about the Obamacare individual mandate. My god, it’s on video.

LOL....Romney’s now a candidate? Officially? I know he’s trying to butt in, but haven’t heard he’s officially in.
Besides that, I doubt McRomney has ever come in under budget and ahead of schedule. Did Romney start the business, or just get hired? Did he fund his own start up? Or, was it a group of folks/investors?

I get you don’t trust Trump. That’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. As long as you’re not insulting about it, I won’t try to yell at you about it.
However, a significant plurality seem to think that Trump is trustworthy, at least on these specific matters.
We have our own reasons for this opinion, and the reasons are not because we’re stupid. I’m sure if you look at FR for awhile, you can find these reasons.
Can you accept that?

You’ve got that right. The insiders are upset that just as they are garnering the graft and gold, the citizens finally have a vehicle that they perceive will lessen the corruption and scrap the the things they hate about the ways of Washington. There’s nothing slackers hate more than a doer.

I guess I missed that part of the government proposal that kept the government out of the government proposal.>> yes in in my utopia government is out of the retirement plan business, the drug regulation business, banking business, making fake money business. etc. it aint gonna happen just maybe make it work for another 5-10 years. our government system is running like an old 57 chevy in havana.

Used to be a thing called charity.
There still is. Charity is freely given, not mandated by government. Not taken from our pockets and distributed where the government thinks one should give.

No, it is a humane point. People do die in the streets without help or care from others, yes you can actually see for your own self in any major city...just take UBER to skid row and bring your tent, camp out and talk to the locals.

Practice what you preach. Cruz is NOT a Natural Born Citizen. The Constitution is the law of the land yet TWO Ineligible people are trying to STEAL the Presidency. YOU find where a Canadian citizen is allowed to be the president in the Constiution and get back with me.

Of course. And I will also vote for Trump if he is the nominee.
But Cruz has kept his word to the voters in Texas, and he will have my support through the primaries.

Oh yeah...Feb 19 he “supports mandate” and then on Feb 20, after the flak, he “clarifies” and then “tweets” and then states his so-called true opinion.
Typical politician. Flip-Flop-Flip
Oh but only his recent statement is all you care about. Because everything earlier is now moot.
