Cruz Making Plans To Drop Out of Race? (Roger Stone says Ted demands SCOTUS appointment from Rubio)
The Political Insider ^ | March1, 2016 | Bill Cunningham

Posted on 03/01/2016 1:16:32 PM PST by drewh

A long-time political insider just made a bombshell announcement about conservative Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is running for President.

This Republican operative, who has worked on 9 different presidential cycles, couldn’t keep it quiet any longer after being in talks with key leaders of Cruz’s and Senator Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) campaigns.

The insider is Roger Stone. He once worked for Donald Trump, and passed along his report to a popular radio host that Cruz used a high-priced attorney to confidentially request that Rubio’s team promise Cruz a Supreme Court appointment in exchange for Cruz exciting the race. This is in addition to recent reports that the candidates’ wives have been in contact, discussing why someone dropping out is essential.

This is unprecedented, but Cruz has to be well aware that the political establishment is lining up behind Rubio. Fox News has a pro-Rubio tilt, and the powerful Koch brothers just sent a number of their top operatives to Team Rubio in hopes of defeating Trump during a contentious convention fight.

Cruz has been a bold conservative voice in the United States Senate who has been willing to filibuster Obamacare and take on his own party. But while he’s a constitutional scholar with solid principles, it’s clear that after his team messed with Dr. Ben Carson, he is also willing to play dirty tricks.

However, those tricks haven’t changed Trump’s nearly insurmountable lead, and Cruz doesn’t want to face even more legal battles about his former dual-citizenship with Canada. Cruz, who is a former Supreme Court law clerk, may see a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court as the perfect exit strategy!

As Roger Stone once noted about Cruz, he is the ultimate Nixonian politician:

Vladimir Lenin said, “There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.” I can’t think of a better description of Ted Cruz’s relationship with the DC-Wall Street Establishment – Cruz being the scoundrel of course. Cruz’s claim of not being a tool of the political elite is like Bill Clinton telling the world, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” […]

Despite his ability to lie with a straight face (sadly Nixonian) on his support for amnesty and TPP, he got nailed by Senator Marco Rubio on the debate. Acting like a prick in the U.S. Senate was the core of Ted’s disciplined effort to bury his old school ties and reinvent himself as a modern-day Jesse Helms and supposed Conservative outsider. It’s a ruse. It’s clear that something dramatic has to happen this week, with 12 primary elections happening on Super Tuesday. Without deals like this, nothing can stop the Trump Train.

What do you think about Ted Cruz allegedly offering to drop out of the race?

Cruz will be fine in his reelection bid. You need to worry about Trump and his kids staying out of prison.

Trump is now inventing lies to try and steal the election. This is rich coming from the campaign that attacked Cruz for weeks over his campaign passing on a Rumor that CNN started. So, can we now claim that any state that Trump wins is one that he stole from Cruz? After all if it is good for the goose then it is good for the gander. I think Trump needs to publically denounce Roger Stone or else it proves that he is the greatest liar in the world (and all the other things he called Cruz.)

Whether you like Ted Cruz or not, you have to admit that he is extremely bright. Surely he knows the odds of a Rubio victory. Why would he “demand” something that Rubio is unlikely ever to be in a position to give? This article is the usual anti-Cruz garbage.

Trump and Cruz are almost the only candidates supported at FR. We don’t have to trash the other guy to justify our support for our first choice.

I hope so. I have pushed for TRUMP-Sessions 2016.

I heard Trump in an interview say he would want someone (VP)with some kind of legislative experience, who could get things working again on the Hill. Jeff has always kept his head down, no show horse, and has no excessive enemy baggage, as opposed to Cruz.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if TRUMP had interest in a more exotic pick as VP, someone with economic or foreign policy experience, but who was a non-politician. I guess I was wrong. If he just must have a pol, I like Jeff on the issues, against the North American Union opposition, and on the illegal invasion.

Their tentacles are much more far reaching than any of us dreamed.

This campaign season has been absolutely chock full of hypocrisy.

The only person with any integrity at all also happens to be the one smeared most often as a 'sleazy liar'.

It'd be funny if the consequences weren't so dire.

Another poll out today showing Hillary losing narrowly to Cruz (and to amnesty Rubio), but easily beating Trump.

Swell.

Maybe I'll start looking at all of this as some sort of ancient satyr play, for the sake of my sanity.

This is ridiculously silly!

If Cruz drops out, EVERYBODY’s done!

Who do you think his votes are going to? 2/3 of them would go to Trump. His voters are not going to vote for Rubio.

Rubio doesn’t have a ice cube’s chance in hell of winning the nomination.

A Cruz vote does not go to Rubio. That makes no sense.
A Rubio vote goes to Cruz, maybe.
A Cruz vote goes to Carson.

Any Cruz vote that goes to anyone other than Trump is a testament to the advisability of taking the low road in a campaign.

Personal insults pay short term benefits and may feel good at the time but in the long run it can bite you in the arse.

Urge Ted to stay the course and defeat this conspiracy to elect the blowhard . We want back to the days of the constitution and the government out of our bedrooms, kitchens, gas tanks, back yards, as well as our religions. And pick justices who will keep it that way .

During an interview for Face the Nation, host John Dickerson asked Republican presidential candidate, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) if he would consider accepting the vacant spot on the Supreme Court after the sudden death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. This comes after Republican presidential candidates and Republican members of the senate have vowed not to approve anyone President Obama nominates during his last year in office.

“That is not a job I’m interested in.” Cruz said and added, “The job I’m interested in is appointing 3, 4, 5 Supreme Court justices, is defending the constitution.” The Texas senator vowed that as president he would reverse the damages done by Barack Obama and that he would be “faithful and vigorous defending the constitution.”

Rubio would jump at that because he knows the Senate will never confirm Cruz to anything.
