Sen. Ted Cruz speculated Sunday that Republican presidential rival Donald Trump might be delaying the release of his tax returns because of possible ties with the mob.
"Maybe it is the case that Donald, there have been multiple media reports about Donald's business dealings with the mob, with the mafia," Cruz said on "Meet the Press."
"Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported," he added.
Cruz repeated the suggestion on ABC's "This Week," seemingly stunning host George Stephanopoulos.
"Business dealings with the mafia?" Stephanopoulos asked, incredulously.

I don’t think Trump should release his taxes. Why give the Dems MONTHS to peruse them?

Oh, I’m resigned to Trump being president. But I also remember when GW Bush could do no evil on this site as well, even though I spoke out about the trap of compassionate conservatism then.
So I will be here in a year when Trump begins to pull te rug out from under conservatism, and I will be laughing “I Told You So” at all those who blindly followed Trump over the cliff.

The latest Trump-bashing goes like this: the evidence clearly shows Trump has consistently supported establishment candidates, has given thousands of dollars to entrenched politicians, like Hillary and her ilk....
He was donating bigtime, but Trump was not running for anything and used politicians to get business done. The parasitic class of power-hungry politicians knew this, so Trump was on their hit list as a sucker who/d write a check, no questions asked.
I would not be surprised if the candidates confided in Donald about their love life, spilled damaging opposition research WRT their opponents and damning stuff about well-known pols---in order to get bigger donations.
They/re wishing now they hadn't said the things they did....b/c Donald knows plenty.
I agree it is not dignified but would explain the desperate Hail Mary attacks.
I’ve also read that if Cruz where to lose Texas, not only would his presidential campaign be over, but a loss in Texas on Tuesday could also put his 2018 Senate re-election prospects in some jeopardy!!!

You are not kidding. If these candidates are the “cream” of America, its no wonder we are in deep sh!t.
This last bit from Cruz, along with not dropping Beck by now, is the last straw. He just reinforces everything you hate about Ivy League lawyers, and Senators masquerading as “proven leaders”. Definitively amateur hour in the Cruz campaign.
Trump has spewed out umpteen unproved charges at both Cruz and Rubio and gets a pass for them, especially the one aimed at Cruz. It’s not fun when the shoe is on the other foot. Trumpsters scream like stuck pigs.
May be missing some but have now seen Chuck Todd, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezenski, Andrew Cuomo and David Letterman remarks used on FR in support of Donald Trump.
