In second grade, the family agreed to let Daniel legally change his name and at the boy's request, his school agreed to go along with the change, even letting Daniel use the boy's bathroom.
"He is very well-adjusted" but still feels stress because he knows not everyone is so accepting, Heumann said.
Daniel "was very anxious before coming out at school," but refused the option of keeping the secret, Heumann recalled.
"He looked at me and said, 'Dad, I can't. It's harder to live a lie and not as I am truly than to deal with this anxiety right now.'"

It used to be that tomboys were allowed to be themselves without pushing them into this “transgender” nonsense. This poor little girl is being seriously messed up, and the mental instability thus created will likely last her whole life.
I would bet anything that this “study” was designed with a pre-determined conclusion in mind. It is touted as being the “largest study of its kind”, but in reality, is extremely small.
A girl who likes to do “boy” stuff, or a boy who likes to do “girl” stuff is not “transgender.” “Transgender” is a meaningless construct; unless someone is born with a rare genetic condition, their gender is determined by the chromosomes. XY=boy, XX=girl. (The rare conditions prevent development of normal male characteristics, so it is possible for someone to grow up as a physical female but have the XY chromosomes. Such a person cannot have children.)
Do you mean there are still some people who subscribe to common sense? Who believe the evidence before their eyes? Who don't swallow the politically correct whims wholesale? And who know deviancy when they see it?

No doubt the 2nd grader thought this up on his own too. Kids today are really up on the fine points of our legal system.

Am I missing something or is this a case of more so called parents who need to seek mental help.
Parents are supposed to guide kids, not let kids do what they want, especially in second grade for crying out loud.
These are not even parents. They are animals for doing seeking their own mental health and thus pushing onto the child.

“Daniel” couldn’t have legally changed his name because he’s a minor. A second grader doesn’t know squat about transgender or the workings of the legal system. HER parents instigated all of this.
Most kids “live openly” as Batman one week and a fish the next.
If they’re so happy, then explain the high suicide rate. If they’re so happy, explain why they are so unhappy and balloon to 200-300 pounds. If they’re so happy, then why do they spend so much time demanding so much from everyone else?
The number of actual transgendered children must be extremely low.
When I told my second-grade son to put away his Batman, Spider-Man, and GI Joe “dolls”, he corrected me immediately.
“They are not dolls, Mom. They are ACTION FIGURES!”
