‘What Else’ Is In Trump’s Health Plan? It’s Far to the Left Of Rubio, Cruz
Investors' Business Daily ^ | 2/26/2016 | John Merline

‘What else is part of your health care plan?” That was Marco Rubio bashing Donald Trump at the Thursday night debate on Trump’s lack of specifics on health reform.

Rubio complained that all Trump would talk about is “eliminating lines around states, whatever that means.” And indeed, when asked if Trump had any other specific reform ideas to offer, he said: “No, there’s nothing to add.”

It is true that Trump has been incredibly vague about his post-ObamaCare plans. But neither Rubio nor Ted Cruz, the two other leaders in the race, have offered much by way of specifics either, other than that they, like Trump, will get rid of ObamaCare

Plans are really meaningless. Congress will take any plan, throw it away, and craft its own. Obamacare was a product of backroom deals and compromises--and that was among the Dems and special interests.

More than likely, the control of the Senate will shift to the Dems in 2017. They will have a say in any plans to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Trump has disavowed his support for an individual mandate. Will Rubio do the same?

“It will be fantastic, I can tell you that! It will be the best healthcare you’ve ever seen and I’ll make Mexico pay for it.”

You just summed up Trumps entire platform in about 30 words.

“Got it. After racing around her screaming daily about the “lack of specific in Trumps plan” NOW you claim to KNOW Trumps plan.

Liar it is.”

Well that’s par for the course. Rather than talk about the specifics, attack the messenger who rightfully questions Donnie’s stand on the issues.

You should just like Donnie. Insult people, instead of demonstrating you or your positions have substance.

Sorry. That just doesn’t cut it.

I was reading a transcript of a Republican debate last year. First, Trump was asked what his health care plan was. After he answered, Cruz was asked, and his answer was almost identical to Trump’s.

So this IBD writer if full of it.

“Its gonna be great. Really terrific. People won’t die in the streets anymore. Everyone will love it. Have you seen my polls numbers? I’m going to take care of everyone. Did you see the huge crowds? Its gonna be so much better. I’m way ahead in the polls, Terriffic, great, polls, crowds, and circles around the states!!!”

Now that’s the kind of specificity he lacked last night!

I’m so much clearer now...

Trump wants to repeal Obamacare and go back to private insurance with nationwide competition and no individual mandate. But he does want to mandate that pre-existing conditions are covered by insurance companies. Don’t know how that would work, unless there was some form of industry wide high risk pool. He also wants some form of coverage for indigents. Probably government subsidized. Also don’t know how that would work out.

Haven’t you heard? Trump is going to be the nominee and any criticism level at him is only for the purpose of helping Hillary. Only RINOs find anything wrong with Trump. He is perfect in every way and if you think otherwise you hate America and don’t want it to be great again.

“Yes, it’s way too much like Sanders.”

Pray tell. What is Cruz or Rubio’s healthcare plan? Trumps is free market with no state lines. That equals more competition.

Trump said recently that his plan was going to cover preexisting conditions. Fact.

So do explain to us how you cover preexisting conditions without requiring a mandate to buy health insurance. Because if you have to be taken with preexisting conditions no one will buy insurance until they actually need to be taken care of. In fact buying “insurance” after the fact is not insurance at all.

He also said that the 25% of people who can’t afford health insurance are going to be taken care of and “the government’s gonna pay for it”. The government doesn’t pay for anything. Everyone else who buys health insurance will pay for it.

The only real difference between Trump’s plan and Bernie’s plan is Bernie is honest where he’s going to get the money to pay for it. All the other details are just noise.

The “free market” doesn’t involve the “government’s gonna pay for it”. Single payer has no state lines either.

Throwing around the words “free market” mean nothing if the government is going to dictate terms.

And the bottom line is, the federal government has no business meddling in your health care. Nowhere in the constitution is it enumerated that the federal government has authority to do jack with your health care. It is a state issue and only a state issue.

Trump blatantly pushes a big government socialist immigration plan and we are to worry about his vague references to a health plan when he obviously has no health plan and has not thought thru the health care issue.

Ben Carson on healthcare had the best policy statement of the debate last night. Unfortunately, good policy statements do not win elections.

Those things you list are contradictory.

If you have to be taken with preexisting conditions and if you don’t mandate buying insurance no one will buy it for catastrophic conditions. Why would you?

Trump says those “indigents” that the “government’s gonna pay for” are 25% of the people.

And all of the above is just being lost in the trees without seeing the forest.

The bottom line is the federal government has no business dictating our health care at much of any level. Those things not enumerated in the constitution as federal jurisdiction are left to the states. This is entirely a state issue and not a one size fits all federal issue.

Like I said, I don’t see how it would work. The congress won’t go for it anyway. DOA.

Right...

Did he also disavow the requirement to cover preexisting conditions???

Because you can’t force coverage of preexisting conditions if you also don’t force people to buy insurance. Why would any sane person buy it if you can buy it after you come down with something?

This isn’t rocket science.

Trump is far to the left of Rubio and Cruz? I’m shocked, I tell you, shocked. Someday Trump will move to the right and then he’ll qualify to be a RINO. But wait, it’s all OK because he hates the establishment.
