NRA Board of Directors: Grover Norquist
Self
Posted on 02/25/2016 4:28:17 AM PST by Labyrinthos
The March 2016 American Rifleman contains this year's ballot for the NRA Board of Directors, as well as an "recall vote" to remove Grover Norquist from the Board for his alleged ties to radical Islam. I am not sure how I intend to vote and quite frankly, I don't know a lot about the controversy; but I am interested in the opinions of others here at FR.

Last year, Norquist partnered with former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's pro-amnesty Partnership for a New American Economy last year to hold monthly conference calls with lawmakers to strategize on amnesty legislation.
Norquist also hailed the passage of the Senate's Gang of Eight's comprehensive amnesty bill, which the Congress Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers.

It’s the centerfold of your monthly mag, e.g. American Rifleman.

Vote to recall Grover Norquist. Then expel him from the NRA.
Norquist has been coopted by the Muslim Brotherhood and probably other groups.

You sound like you’re squared away.
I’m currently giving my ballot the eyeball.

If you’ve received your NRA magazine, whichever one you subscribe to, you have your ballot.

It's the centerfold of your monthly mag, e.g. American Rifleman.Thanks. I just saw that that information was in the original post. Haven't had time to look at my magazine yet.
(Also haven't had time for my first cup of coffee.)

What is the mechanism for conducting the recall vote? I should know (life member of NRA), but usually trash my ballot. I don’t recall getting any material from the NRA on removal of a board member.

Nevermind, I see from the OP, the recall vote is part of the ballot. I’d vote to recall him.

I am now leaning in that direction.

Grover Norquist is not a true conservative, because that requires principles. He is a prostitute.

If you are a Life Member or higher -or- a regular Member for 5 or more consecutive years then you are eligible to vote for the Board Members and to participate in the Norquist recall vote. I get my ballot as an insert to American Rifleman. If you haven't gotten a ballot that way I'd call Member Services at 1-877-NRA-2000 and ask them for one. 1 May is the ballot deadline.

The research was Frank Gaffney’s.

True, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I hear ya!
I’m glad this was posted b/c I wasn’t sure how to vote. I wish my FIL was still alive, he was on the NRA BoD for 38 years. I would value his advice on this, and find out the backstory and share it here.

The board is pretty big, there are plenty of good folks - Norquist is going to be fine even if he is not on the NRA board, it's not like this rejection ruins him. NRA is soft enough, now (many see it as practical, not soft, and that it is prudent to fold to government pressure), and I think the NRA needs a dose of spine, not a dose of conciliatory attitude.

I find it quite interesting that Retired Admiral James "Ace" Lyons and Retired Lieutenant General William "Jerry" Boykin (and other Security personnel) have been concerned about Norquist for quite some time. Forget Beck......if these guys think there's a problem with Norquist, co-founder of the Islamic Free Market Institute, then it's time for all members to do some serious research on Norquist before you cast a vote.
