"Just a minute ago, I tweeted on Twitter a tweet that Donald sent in 2013," Cruz said during a Boston Herald Radio interview.
He was referring to an August 2013 tweet in which the Republican presidential front-runner wrote: "Congress must protect our borders first. Amnesty should be done only if the border is secure and illegal immigration has stopped."
Cruz said on the radio on Thursday that Trump was backing the legislative effort partially led by another presidential candidate, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).
"Now in 2013, I was leading the fight against Marco Rubio's 'Gang of Eight' amnesty plan," Cruz said, referring to an immigration-reform bill that Rubio coauthored. "In the middle of that fight, Donald Trump sent out a tweet supporting amnesty, saying we should adopt amnesty. Now, that's a sharp difference," he added.
Cruz also hit Trump for criticizing Mitt Romney's tone on the illegal-immigration issue during the 2012 Republican presidential nominee's race against President Barack Obama.

Agree. Still for me Trump 1, Cruz 2, but Cruz is losing focus. If Trump can take a swipe at W over 9/11 and the Iraq war in a debate less than 2 weeks ago and he’s still winning and gaining support, how much impact could a 2 year old tweet possibly have?
Cruz made a strategic error going off the rails against Trump (not to mention having Glenn Beck within 1,000 miles of his campaign).
Cruz easily could have been VP and totally set up for President 4 or 8 years from now. After this, even a SCOTUS nomination might be out of the question.
Cruz is little more than a fart awaiting to be blown away with the wind.
How is this not amnesty?
Go play with Beck. You can probably make him cry on your shoulder.
As loss becomes inevitable, delusion grows exponentially.
Because....he's a winner!
And asking what will be won, or details on how the winning will happen, or why Trump's lifetime of liberalism doesn't matter now, means you are a loser.
First time I heard of that. Maybe a contractor on one of his projects did this...but Trump Corporation itself??
A two-year-old tweet from a private citizen.
Yeah, I totally see Cruz giving the Dems a fright.....yeah.
Yup..but sometimes the truth hurts....
Can’t the Host of this board do something to delete these anti-Trump troll posts on our own message board?
You mean like Cruzaders ignoring the fact that the wants to increase H1Bs by 500%. I have heard enough of these drones say it was a poison pill. Bull plop. There is plenty of audio out there saying that he supported it.
Bye bye Ted
Cruz Flippity flop:

"Ted Cruz on immigration: "I oppose legalization Today, tomorrow, forever."
"A leftover from this weekend that I want to note for archival purposes, in case he wins the nomination and then starts claiming next summer he never said he was absolutely opposed to legalizing illegals in all circumstances. This sounds pretty absolute, no?
Isn't this the same Ted Cruz who said a month ago that we'll have a "conversation" about legalizing people once the border is secured? "
The great joke in all of this is that when you boil down their positions, and consider what deals they’d have to make to get it through Congress, the three of them aren’t that far apart. All three say to secure the border first, and none of the three believes that all the illegals should be kicked out and not permitted to return.
Hi TBP!!
For those who don’t know his background - TBP aka (Tim Barnes Phares) is the press Director of Council of Khalistan a Washington DC-based organisation lobbying on behalf of the Pakistan government.
seriously????
And they are legion!
“Congress must protect our borders first. Amnesty should be done only if the border is secure and illegal immigration has stopped.”
Cruz, being a lawyer, should know that that does not, can not, offer proof, that Trump was for amnesty. The antecedent of the conservation was amnesty, not what Trump believed.
A smart lawyer would recognize that “amnesty should be done only” is one of a number of options that should be done only when the border is secure.
Silly. Trump is telling the republican congress that amnesty shouldn’t be on the table without securing the border.
There was no way Trump’s plan was going to be passed by congress and signed, so comprise was the best we were going to get. His tweet is to admonish republicans to at least get a guarantee that we secure the border, instead of just rolling over - as it looked like was going to happen at the time.
