âI followed the law," Trump said in an interview with Mika Brzezinski aired Wednesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," in discussing the hoops she had to jump through in order to become a citizen of the United States. "I never thought to stay here without papers. I had a visa, I traveled every few months back to the country to Slovenia to stamp the visa. I came back, I applied for the green card, I applied for the citizenship later on after many years of green card. So I went by system, I went by the law. And you should do that, you should not just say let me stay here and whatever happens, happens.
Trump, who immigrated to the United States from Slovenia in 1996, said that she and her husband are prepared for people to call him names for expressing his viewpoints. Iâm a full-time mom, and I love it.
"We have thick skin, and we know that people will judge him and people will call names. They donât give him enough credit. From June that he announced, they dont give him enough credit," she said, leading Brzezinski to ask her what she thought about people who felt he insulted Mexicans with his comments that the country is sending rapists and murderers across the border in his announcement speech.
Trump said that she did not feel her husband insulted the Mexican people. He said illegal immigrants. He didnât talk about everybody. He talked about illegal immigrants, she explained. And after a few weeks, like two weeks [of] giving him a hard time and bashing him in the media, they turned around. They said, you know what, hes right. Hes right what hes talking about. And he opened conversation that nobody did.

“I believe the girls are Cruzâ kids. That happened at one of the very first events of the campaign. Very cute pic!”
Yes, it was the Cruz’ girls sitting with Melania Trump.
Looking foward to seeing their whole beautiful family representing us.
Morning in America Folks!
Yes, she is! :)
That wonderful “preggo glow” has added to her charm. I watched her for years on The Apprentice, and she always possessed an almost ethereal quality. Very graceful, with some kind of inner beauty that radiates outward. You know it when you see it.
Yeah, morning in America. While the beautiful plastic family stands on a stage, their daddy personally insults the appearance of others, uses the word liar indiscriminately, bashes the accomplishments of a renowned surgeon, mocks the sacrifices of a captured POW, imitates a handicapped person. For those who accept this as their standard, Barack Hussein Obama has truly achieved the ultimate “fundamental transformation of America.”
Ad hominem posts like yours are so tiresome....
Think so?
That just gave me a great idea.we should rename DT........King of Ad Hominem.
Trump isn’t my first choice, but he’s good enough. I like Cruz more, but he has zero broad appeal. Rubio is an amnesty whore traitor (like his buddy McCain BTW).
Melania will also be bad for the sale of eye bleach.
She is gorgeous!
The behavior of some of these Cruz fans ie the reason that Cruz has not done so well.
They go overboard in the hate department.
From a women’s perspective, Melania is gorgeous in a way that isn’t off-putting to most women.
Cruz is on his last gasp and the Cruzers know it. Did you see Cruz’s speech last night? Muted applause. They all knew he was toast.
And you are trying to say you are not nasty and vile?
How many Freeps did you ever go to or makes signs for back in the 90’s and early 2000’s.
You probably don’t even know what a Freep is..
MYGOSH....what mother leaves her children alone at a rally? How classy of Melania, to divert her attention to tending to the needs of those children.
I totally agree!! She has GRACE, charm and Super Smarts!
“And you are trying to say you are not nasty and vile?”
That’s it....attack the messenger. So typical.
And no, I never said that. But I can’t hold a candle to you.
Heidi is fair game. She's involved in fund raising aspects of the campaign, including from her work buddies at Goldman Sachs. 60 Minutes had a story a few months ago that said her campaign manager is from Goldman Sachs. Add to that, Heidi is "on leave"; she has not resigned.
Thus, by the rules of the game, Heidi as a campaign staffer is fair game. The other wives are not, having avoided that kind of involvement.
Your post about Cruz’ wife was very contemptible.
I don’t know what you are trying to show.
Just how low can you go?
CNN did a report on her in New Hampshire, and it was very positive. I didn't vote for Ted, but there's simply no reason to go after her.
In reality, Ted Cruz's campaign is in it's final stages. The acceptance of that varies, but there is simply no reason at all to make her "fair game."
