Trump wins Nevada caucuses

Donald Trump trounced his rivals in the Nevada caucuses on Tuesday, notching his third consecutive victory and giving the Manhattan mogul even more momentum heading into Super Tuesday next week, when voters in a dozen states will cast their ballots.

Trump’s decisive win, which the Associated Press announced immediately after polls closed, was propelled by an electorate even more enraged than the ones that had swept him to wins in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and a second-place showing in Iowa.

"We love Nevada. We love Nevada,” Trump declared in his victory speech. "Ah, this is a great place."

For the first time in the 2016 primary season, media entrance polls showed that a majority of voters, 57 percent of Nevada caucus-goers, said they were "angry" with the federal government. Another 36 percent said they were dissatisfied.

And, as significantly, they want to bring in an outsider to fix it. More than three in five caucus-goers said they favor someone from outside the political establishment rather than a candidate with political experience as president.

That was bad news for Marco Rubio, who is now 0 for 4 in the February contests, and Ted Cruz, who won the Iowa caucuses but finished a disappointing third in South Carolina on Saturday.

Yep...in NV he is showing he can blow past the 35% ceiling some said he was limited to.

And, it is clear that with Bush out, in terms of percentages...hehehe...the vast majority of the difference went to Trump. Now this could simply be Nevada and we shall see later.

But neither Rubio or Cruz took the Bush 7% tonight. They stayed pretty much where they have been...deadlocked in a close 2nd-3rd. And that has to be a disappointment to Rubio who I am sure felt he would get the lion’s share of the Bush percentage.

Turns out...at least in Nevada...Trump gobbled it up.

Texans have a week to think about whether they want to vote for third place Cruz or give trump a clean sweep on super Tuesday.

Anyone with half a brain should realize that Trump is running to save America . He doesn’t need the power , stress , money , etc...He could sit back and relax anywhere in the world with his gorgeous wife and live the rest of his life in peace . That’s what I would do .

I just compared the South Carolina percentages with the Nevada percentages.

Rubio and Cruz are both in the low 20's in both states.

Trump increased his win by 14 percent.

It appears he got all of Yeb's voters, and most of Kasich's and Carson's.

Karl Rove must be very disappointed. He said Trump had "topped" at 35% or something.

As for Iowa... I dont think they even care that much about the actual politics anymore. I think they just want to stamp their *we are different* brand on every election cycle.

Great observation.

I was saying much the same last month when Cruz won Iowa and Trump came in 2d.

All Iowa does is make the bottom 2 or 3, that never had a chance anyway, drop out.

Maybe Orrin Grant Hatch will seal Rubio’s national loss too; his is the most enduring face of the establishment.

Karl Rove must be very disappointed. He said Trump had "topped" at 35% or something.

Well, with 100% counted, here it is:

NEVADA
Trump--46.12%---34,531
Cruz---21.47%---16,079
Rubio--23.96%---17,940
Kasich--3.62%----2,709
Carson--4.83%----3,619
Total-100.00%---74,878

Crushed the so-called 35% ceiling.

In Nevada...Trump got ALL of Bush's votes and more...much more.

Yet, in his "concession speech", Cruz kept emphasizing he is the only candidate who has defeated Trump in 1 out of 4 primaries. Cruz will not be on the Trump ticket, and is pretty close to blowing his chance for SCOTUS nomination.

Well, in his defense, he's making the case for Rubio to get out of the race, or else to woo Rubio's base. It's not likely, but what else can he do at this point?

I am now switching over to doing my weekly updates on the GOP just using the actual vote totals as oppoed to opinion polls etc.

We have some HUGE votes coming up on Mar 1st, Mar 8th, and Mar 15th. I believe those three Super, and mini-super Tuesdays are going to pretty muich tell the tale as to whether Trump prevails and gets the delegates necewsssary for a clean win at the convention, or whther Cruz and Rubio keep him from it and force him to deal with one or the other of them to get over the top.

At this point, I think it most likely that Trump gets the delegates necessary.

Anyhow, here are the numbers and graphs, incorporating the actual totals from Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, and showing my plans for MArch:

I believe these numbers, in terms of raw voting, are setting records for the GOP. No one is talking much about it...but when compared to Democrat numbers, the actual raw vote so far is literally dwarfing what is coming ot to the democrats. I will have to do a study of that...but that is my general feel.

If he does badly on March 1st primaries, he would be well advised to make a deal with Trump, but stay in the race to prevent Rubio from getting bigger share of votes.
