Rick Tyler, the Senior Communications Advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), issued a public apology after spreading a false story reporting that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) made a nasty comment to a Cruz staffer about the Bible.
"I want to apologize to Senator Marco Rubio for posting an inaccurate story about him here earlier today," Tyler wrote on Facebook after sharing the false story online. "The story misquoted a remark the Senator made to the staffer. I assumed wrongly that the story was correct."
The false report indicated that Rubio said that there were "not many answers" in the Bible -- when in fact, Rubio commented that "all the answers" were in the book of scripture.
Tyler indicated that he communicated with the Cruz staffer in the video, who explained that Rubio had made a "friendly and appropriate remark" about the Bible.
"Since the audio was unclear, I should not have assumed the story was correct," Tyler wrote. "I've deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story. But the fact remains that I did post it when I should have checked its accuracy first. I regret the mistake."

So when Trump personally does it, it is sloppy, but when Crus staffers do it Cruz is dishonest. That is some tortured thinking.
If you don’t understand the meaning of hypocrisy, than clearly you are too stupid to vote.
Marco Rubio has awkward confrontation with Rafael Cruz, Cruz staffer in hotel lobby
Note from the Editor: We have been receiving lots of questions about the contents of this video, and some have disagreed with our transcript. We stand by our original transcript, but the video is here for you to see for yourself and make your own judgement.
COLUMBIA, S.C. Let's dispel the notion that Marco Rubio did not know who he was talking to.
When Rubio walked into the lobby of the Columbia Hampton Inn this morning - conveniently the same one where the Daily Pennsylvanian staffers are posting up in South Carolina and were eating breakfast around 10:30 a.m. - he was presumably not expecting to run into Rafael Cruz, father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, and Cruz campaign staffer Christian Collins.
Maybe it is, I won’t argue the point. At this point, I firmly Rubio as part of the Go8 would implement total amnesty of untold millions of illegals and this outweighs any other considerations by me for him.
I have two choices I’ll take, Trump or Cruz and it looks like I’m not going to change that.
I agree. It’s always been heated but the current out and out hatred is beyond the pale.
Denial
Anger
Bargaining <-——
Depression
Acceptance
The old campaign ways are dead. Lying and dirty tactics don’t work any more because the truth instantly blooms forth on a thousand sites, and the media is actually starting to cover this kind of information obtained from formerly obscure Internet sources. Plus itâs far too easy for individual voters to simply google the truth for themselves, consult multiple social media sources and contacts, etc., etc.
It isn't.
You have a lovely day.
Cruz and his staff, without question. All are lock step, repeat the same untrue statements, the same way, on all the news shows.
Supporters, I don't know. That's more like retweeting or parroting the official line. There's -or was- a clear intent to deceive from the campaign on a handful of issues, supporters just choose to accept it as gospel and repeat it.
Yep. Hence why I fully support Cruz, mistakes, missteps and all.
Cruz has a consistent record of supporting the Constitution and wanting to SHRINK the government and get it out of our way. That is HIS goal. It’s not to fulfill some power trip, or become an Administrator of the government. It’s to give the power BACK to the American people....i.e. US.
The same can’t honestly be said about his competitors....ANY of them.
The way Cruz has run with blatant lies about Trump on the Second Amendment, Obamacare, eminent domain, etc. The way he has tried to get votes by any means possible, I don’t believe it’s just his staff that’s the problem. It’s Cruz himself. He’s initiated and tolerated sleazy tactics from the beginning and this latest smear absolutely despicable. I can’t believe how fooled I was by this man.
That never happened. Trump never called Carson a pedophile. Even carson didn’t take it that way. But that is how the Cruz campaign and some of his fans would like to spin it. Just like this video does to Marco you are putting words in Trumps mouth that he never said. Shame on you.
This kind of statement is what's so irritating. Why do you limit the attacks to only Trump supporters? I've been called names and had my character questioned solely because I'll vote Trump then Cruz. In my opinion, Cruz supporters are getting desperate and myopic.
Is that you Pope Fran?
I will take care of my relationship with God, and leave you to manage yours.
It used to be that one of us (as you did above) would post some detailed thoughtful analysis and the knee jerk idiocy would begin to ebb on the thread.
Now, the more hate and bile that can be spilled the happier most posters become. The thought is that this makes this a good rough and tumble political site and the exact opposite is occurring.
“What has happened to Cruz and his campaign??? This is a mess.”
Well, perhaps this latest mess is because Rick Tyler fasted too long and it brought out his inner Glenn Beck.
-————He seems to be in the mold of obama, no one gets fired!

Maybe they teach that at Harvard Law School, Constitutional Law classes or the Harvard Law Review.
Seems to be one of many common characteristics of the two.
this is one of many propaganda threads. A lot are pointed at Ted Cruz, but not all. You keep repeating over and over again on the thread that candidate X is a ______ (fill in the blank). You say it over and over again down the thread, with new agitators adding more colorful adjectives as the posts pile up. Not just a _____, he’s a slimey ______ blank. He’s always been a phoney _____. Not only that but he’s a dirtbag, scumbag, sleazeball, nazi, lying, underhanded, treacherous _______.
And so it goes. Left behind is any rational discussion of whether the so-called lie was a lie in the first place, or, as in this case, a repetition of a news item without carefully fact checking. Lying? No. Carelessness. Yes. But it’s too late for that. And that is how a good man’s reputation is shredded, annihilated, obliterated and scoured from the public mind. Sickening.
I don’t know about others, but I haven’t used any of this kind of name-calling, vilifying, personal attacks on any candidate. I’ve questioned repeatedly inconsistencies in Donald Trump’s record and for that, I’ve been showered with the same kind of shit-storm of invective as Ted Cruz receives on these threads. I never said Trump is a lying, scumbag, filthy weasel, etc. or anything like it. It doesn’t matter. If you oppose, or even question Donald Trump’s candidacy, you are persona non grata. I have to admit, as a student of history, that the tone is similar to the totalitarian regimes of the last century: any question of the party or the leader or the regime and you are not just disagreeable-you must be utterly destroyed.
You have a blessed day.
