Cruz Campaign Apologizes to Marco Rubio for Spreading False Bible Story
Breitbart ^ | 2/22/2016 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 02/22/2016 6:02:54 AM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Rick Tyler, the Senior Communications Advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), issued a public apology after spreading a false story reporting that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) made a nasty comment to a Cruz staffer about the Bible.

"I want to apologize to Senator Marco Rubio for posting an inaccurate story about him here earlier today," Tyler wrote on Facebook after sharing the false story online. "The story misquoted a remark the Senator made to the staffer. I assumed wrongly that the story was correct."

The false report indicated that Rubio said that there were "not many answers" in the Bible -- when in fact, Rubio commented that "all the answers" were in the book of scripture.

Tyler indicated that he communicated with the Cruz staffer in the video, who explained that Rubio had made a "friendly and appropriate remark" about the Bible.

"Since the audio was unclear, I should not have assumed the story was correct," Tyler wrote. "I've deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story. But the fact remains that I did post it when I should have checked its accuracy first. I regret the mistake."

Cruz has never apologized for his most malicious lie about Trump. The catch is this: I won’t cite the specific lie unless certain conditions are met. Namely, a Cruz supporter must agree in advance that if the lie I cite is from Cruz, malicious, premeditated and irrefutable, said supporter will type in this thread, “I acknowledge that Cruz is a liar.”

I’ve made the offer four times. So far, no takers.

This guy needs to go. I saw him one other time on TV and he was awful. Same thing today talking about this flub. Cruz would do well to get a better man in that position. This flub was caused by said spokesman and that is unacceptable.

Cruz is badly damaging himself with his very nasty and untruthful campaign. His campaign manager, Jeff Roe, has a reputation for going nasty and negative so the temperament of Cruzs’ campaign is not a mistake. This is how team Cruz indented to campaign.

I have never asked that Cruz apologize for ANYTHING. I just only see a slew of extraneous, unhelpful carping flying back and forth from both sides.

I understand about the new sign ups, but I also understand there are also old timers here who I consider the worst of the bunch on both sides.

I don’t know what else to tell you. I’m pretty much done with it. I’m gonna go early vote my primary this week for Trump and then see what happens when the votes are counted on March 1. From there I’ll go onto the general election hoping that it is either Trump or Cruz, if Rubio hasn’t taken him out by then.

I’m trying to think of something polite to write to you and I’m coming up empty. Thanks for the laugh though. I needed it.

I keep saying, he has incompetent hiring practices. Of course some things are his fault, but if you don’t know how to hire good people, that’s more of the same, in a way.

It is a mess around here. I don’t think that I have ever seen it this bad. We fight but the newbs have everyone at each others throats and we’ve a long way to go.

If you seriously can’t understand the difference between loans for constuction projects that Trump is undertaking, and “loans” for campaign finance, you are clearly too stupid to vote!

I don't see how you can honestly view it as "getting away with it." He got caught, and people factor the mistake and reaction to being caught, into their candidate preference.

The fact that YOU give this incident substantial weight, does not mean everybody else will, or even that they should.

If Cruz supporters were as convinced of his honesty as they claim, I’d have had takers galore by now. After all, you don’t have to post,”I acknowledge that Cruz is a liar,” unless my example is proof of a premeditated, malicious lie on Cruz’ part.

I agree. Cruz is slammed from all side by these missteps- by Rubio, by Trump, by other GOPe. Cruz is honorable and apologizes for it all, unlike other candidates who misstate Cru’s positions and never apologize.

Agreed. This guy shows complete incompetence to be in the position he is in. Action must be taken right now. The staffers are severely damaging the efforts of the candidate.

Mr Cruz clearly needs expertise among his staff—hope he acquires the talent soon.

Nothing new.

Look at how many stories we see here where a Trump statement is tacked onto something he didn’t say in order to smear him.

That is why Trump was for TARP and the other big bank bailouts. He has benefited from crony capitalism to a huge degree and I have no doubt his policies would continue it. Cruz is against bailouts.

I’ve come to the obvious conclusion that ANY argument that Trump supporters who support Trump and bash Cruz (or other candidates) are INVALID, on the pure basis that their standards don’t exist.

For instance, they apply this holier than thou standard to Cruz, claiming everything he does is wrong, every mistake or misstep is a lie, and/or his actions are nefarious and then proceed to call him out for everything they deem inappropriate.

Yet completely ignore ALL the evils their candidate gets away with. It’s just like Hillary supporters. Their guy makes Cruz look like a saint in comparison, and they have the gall to attack Cruz?

Talk about hypocritical fail....

" I support Cruz and I am not a dishonest liar. "

As a Cruz supporter, have you ever claimed that Ted is a Natural born citizen, or repeated any of the lies that Teds campaign have spewed ?

Repeating someone else's lie makes one a liar. When Ted or his campaign or his supporters repeat only one side of the facts, that is dishonest.

You choose which part you play.
