COLUMBIA, S.C. - Hoping to rebound from New Hampshire's crushing fifth-place finish, Sen. Marco Rubio's campaign is preparing to finish third in South Carolina.
"To leave here in the top tier would a really nice comeback," a Rubio aide said, adding that some internal polling suggested it could even be a close race for second.
But critics - especially the Ted Cruz campaign - suggest that spinning a third-place finish into a "victory" is questionable, especially after Rubio netted the endorsements of Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy.
"He's got the top three endorsements in the state," said Alice Stewart, a Cruz spokeswoman. "If he can't win here, the question is: how can he win anywhere else?"
The Rubio campaign counters that it's still a six-person race....

Remember Hillary attacking Trump for being sexist, saying Trump had “demonstrated a penchant for sexism?”
Trump responded saying her husband had a “terrible record of women abuse” and that she had a record as his enabler.
Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton has been heard from since in response to Trump.
Uh huh, sure “bean counter.”
And is spite of all that, Trump still loses to Hillary.
Status quo like all the rest. I think Trump was stunned by the lying. If people lie in business like Ted did in politics they go out of business.
I have a feeling Cruz will stop trying to attack Trump so much, its like shooting cannon balls against the USS Constituition, “Old Ironsides”.
And will triple down on Rubio.
Is he 2nd or 3rd?
Either way they are damn close so it really doesn’t matter in terms of votes in the end.
Either way I think both over-performed.
Calling someone a liar constantly has hurt him no doubt. But it doesn’t make it true.

Trump will win by a landslide in the general.
