Rick Perry: Ted Cruz shaking up political class [Calhoun County SC]
The Times and Democrat ^ | February 17, 2016 | PRINCESS B. WILLIAMS

Posted on 02/20/2016 3:55:56 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

ST. MATTHEWS - Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry says U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz went to Washington to shake up the political class, not join it.

"He is a courageous leader who went to Washington, D.C. to break up the Washington cabal. He went to Washington and did exactly what he said he was going to do," Perry said.

Perry and former U.S. Sen. Bob Smith of New Hampshire campaigned for Cruz in Calhoun County on Wednesday. Perry was running for the Republican nomination for president, but dropped out and endorsed Cruz.

The Republican presidential primary is Saturday.

During a small meet and greet at the Town and Country restaurant in St. Matthews, Perry talked about his time as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He said checklists play a major role in keeping pilots and their passengers safe.

"I would not want to get on an airliner if the captain and the copilot had not properly used their checklist," he said.

Cruz has two checklists that he uses in his life: the Bible and the U.S. Constitution, Perry said.

"I'm very supportive of him because he is a disciplined, strict constitutionalist who will lead our country with his eye always on the Bible and the United States Constitution," he said.

The former governor says he knows Cruz, a Texas senator, very well. Cruz has a passion about veterans, Perry said.

Cruz "will focus the efforts of the federal government appropriately to take care of our veterans. He will devolve power back to the states from today - a centralized government in Washington, D.C.," Perry said.

He says Cruz will also respect the Tenth Amendment, which defines the relationship between the states and federal government.

"I'm not sure that if you ask Donald Trump what the Tenth Amendment is today, if he could tell you," Perry said.

The rise of Trump represents the anger of the American people against Washington, D.C., Perry continued.

"Donald Trump is totally a response to Americans' anger with the political class in Washington, D.C.," Perry said.

S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley endorsed Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio, a U.S. senator from Florida, on Wednesday.

"Everybody has to make a decision. I know that Ted Cruz is the individual who best reflects the evangelical and veteran base in South Carolina," Perry said.

Smith said, "I feel our country is in deep trouble right now, and we can't afford to make a mistake."

He refers to Cruz as a consistent, dependable conservative.

Following the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, "I want to know that we're going to get someone nominated in that type of conservative. I want to be sure. I'm not sure with the other presidential candidates," Smith said.

Smith says Cruz will focus on repealing Obamacare, restoring the values America was founded on and strengthening the military.

"The military is asked to do too much with too little," Smith said. "They have their hands tied behind their back in a sense of they can't do what they want to do: to win the fight."

Ted Cruz is assembling the Reagan coalition.

If you haven't had a chance yet, be sure to read this about libertarians moving to Cruz - long but grabs your attention.

Trump didn’t wear “the only principled conservative in the race” like a priestly garment. Trump didn’t write a book titled “A Time For Truth”. Ted Cruz did that. That’s where Ted set the bar before it came crashing down.

No one expected Trump to be anything but Trump.

Lies of omission;

“Also known as a continuing misrepresentation, a lie by omission occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions.”

So ironic that the title of Ted’s book is “A Time For Truth”. Highly disappointed I bought it, and believed it. I wonder if he will give me a refund?

Here’s an example of Ted’s lies of omission, seven lies and misrepresentations in under three minutes. That is walking the talk “the most principled conservative in the race”???

Lie 1 - Pro-abortion and supporting partial birth abortion.

Lie 2 - Trump is calling for the same socialized medicine as Sanders
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RHgqFQ85uZs#t=216

Lie 3 - pushed partial birth abortion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RHgqFQ85uZs#t=239

Lie 4 - Even as a candidate Donald says we need to have full on socialized medicine

Lie 5 - at the debates he said we ought to have socialized medicine like Canada and Scotland.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RHgqFQ85uZs#t=302

Lie 6 - If you as a republican don’t support socialized medicine you are heartless.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RHgqFQ85uZs#t=312

Lie 7 - If you want to see Bernie sanders style of socialized medicine Trump is your guy

So it’s more of the same.

Get people on stage to tell you how rough and tough and powerful Cruz is, because no one has any obvious examples of how this is true.

Why would supposedly closed-borders FReepers support a guy who went down to the border with soccer balls and teddy bears? Ohh, I get it the “teddy bear” thing now. This used to be a conservative website. Now it’s just the big money, New York bank website. Cult of personality is right.

Ted Cruz's Quiet Coup in Iowa

Forgoing the stump speech pleasantries, Cruz engaged us with confidence and knowledge, challenging us to skip the softball questions and get to some areas of disagreement.

This request, of course, we obliged.

Cruz spoke our language, and held his own on a wide range of liberty issues including state nullification, the military-industrial complex, and drug policy. There were some areas of disagreement, and his appeal to us wasn't grounded in ideological purism, but in common policy goals. Still, even those who still had reservations came away with more respect for his candid approach and willingness to engage us directly.

No other candidate can do this.

If we are going to roll back the government, rather than manage Obamacare better, we need a leader who can win hearts and MINDS.

That's right, Jim Robinson is a tool of the New York banks and big money. What a stupid thing to say.

The real problem is that you hate honest debate and demand everyone agrees with you and your candidate.

Trump: ["Art of the Deal"]:

The final key to the way I promote is bravado.

I play to people's fantasies.

People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do.

That's why a little hyperbole never hurts.

People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.

I call it truthful hyperbole.

It's an innocent form of exaggeration - and a very effective form of promotion.

Well, I appreciate your honesty. You apparently have one standard for Trump ("the end justifies the means, but hey, just WIN"), and a different one for Cruz (i.e. any politician who claims to be a Christian had better be able to show the nail scars in his hands and feet, and still have the spear sticking from his side).

Also, I've noticed that you've spammed this little diatribe ten times in different thread hijacks in two days, but then, Trump supporters don't need no stinkin' rules, you're "i gotta right!" kind of folks? Right?

We might as well make the proclamation, in your honor, of the new:

TrumpRepublic!

All we need now is Trumps face on the FR mast head.

" support a guy who went down to the border with soccer balls and teddy bears" - j.argese

Oh, I dunno. But I don't apologize taking clothing and toys to a Mexican orphanage some years ago, and my former California church which I FULLY and ENTHUSIASTICALLY supported sent regular supplies to ministries south of the border.

Guess that makes me a radical, left wing "open borders" freak. OMG, and my wife and kids are brown skinned too! My wife is a (legal) immigrant and screaming US Patriot, so, that must make me a total, freaking Marxist. Right? That's your line of reasoning by innuendo on Cruz.

I make Cruz's gesture the mark of a Christian. I don't really care what kind of Trump-trash is spread about him.

Oh, and no, I'm not a Cruz supporter, just a CHRISTIAN supporter, and I'll make my political decisions based on my Christian world view.

Not one thing on your list is a lie.

Nov 26, 2015 - Donald Trump: Mean-Spirited GOP Won't Win Elections

Donald TRUMP: ....."The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy "to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country," Trump says."....

Feb 19, 2016 Who's Dying in the Streets, Mr. Trump?

Rush LIMBAUGH: I don't believe this.

TRUMP: Well, I like the mandate. Okay, so here's where I'm a little bit different. I don't want people dying on the streets. I say this all the time. The Republican people, they're wonderful people. They don't want people dying on the streets. We're going to take care of them through maybe concepts of Medicare. We have hospitals that aren't doing well. We have doctors that aren't doing well. You cannot let people die on the street, okay? Taking care of people that are really, really sick and are going to die. That's not single payer, by the way. That's called "heart."

RUSH: Uhhhh, I'm just not feeling this, folks. In the first place, people are not dying on the street. Where does that come from? That's the second time that I've heard Mr. Trump say this. Where does this come from? Who is out there saying, "We can't let people keep dying on the street"? There aren't any Republicans saying that. If anybody's saying that, it's got to be a bunch of Democrats. But I don't know if any Democrats are saying it. It isn't happening! So where's this coming from? And "I like the mandate"?"........
