Scalia's Son Denounces 'Hurtful' Conspiracy Theories About Father's Death

After news broke that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had passed away in his sleep, and that an autopsy was not ordered, it didn't take long for the conspiracy theories to begin swirling--especially after the owner of the ranch where Scalia was found dead said he had a pillow over his head.

Scalia's eldest son Eugene has had enough, however, saying it's been a 'hurtful distraction' for the family while they are mourning.

"It's, I think, a distraction from a great man and his legacy at a time when there's so much to be said about that and to help people even more fully appreciate that. And, on a personal level, I think it's a bit of a hurtful distraction for a family that's mourning," he said on Laura Ingraham's radio show.

While many, including veteran detectives, raised eyebrows over the fact that an autopsy wasn't ordered, people must respect the fact that the family also didn't push for one.

"He was a month shy of 80 years old. He lived this incredibly full and active life, but I knew, and he knew, that he was at a place in life where he could be taken from this world at any time," Eugene Scalia added.

"Our family just has no doubt he died of natural causes. And we accept that. We're praying for him. We ask others to accept that and pray for him," he said.

"[My father] would have been the first to tell you," Scalia continued, "that we're from dust, we return to dust, your life could be taken from you at any instant."

The justice's funeral will be held Saturday at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

But remember: They did an autopsy on Breitbart, and a lot of people here still think it was a conspiracy rub out.

Well, when the coroner dies afterward of arsenic poisoning????

It is so sad that the Scalia family cannot grieve in peace without having to deal with this lunacy.

We don’t own his remains.

Who says we do?

We deserve and need to know what happened to him from a cursory level. He didn’t have an examination required of a 102 year old with no family

Get off it

‘I’m thinking more about the pillow over his Justice Scalia’s head. If he was purposefully suffocated, there would likely be some evidence of this.’

Nope, no autopsy needed. Suffocation is easily detected without the need to cut him open.

What would really help is if the family allowed donations to fund a private investigator who was chosen by someone really suspicious of official investigations. For example, Savage, Chris Ruddy, Joe Farah, or perhaps Jim Robinson — someone like that who is respected by us conspiracy theorists. Then that person chooses the investigator, and the family could request access short of an autopsy.

It would clear up the matter.

It might make it easier too for the family if the investigator not be allowed to publicly malign Scalia’s reputation. Scalia might have been lured to that ranch, and then some fabrication would make him look like a creep during the standard investigation.

We deserve to know nothing more than what is on the death certificate, absent any evidence of foul play.

I believe, based on what is known, his death was due to natural causes secondary to medical issues. What I believe has no bearing on any decisions made by the family. In the end, it was their decision and theirs alone.

You might not like their decision but quite frankly, it is none of anyone’s business.

You lost me first sentence. Read the story then form an opinion. Time waster

It depends, and sometimes micro hemorrhages and other findings on tissue examination are helpful/necessary. Also, the ‘autopsy’ would include those findings that you’re referring to that wouldn’t require an invasive approach.

I read that post with interest. I guess when I was up close to him was a year or so before he passed and he wasn’t really even overweight, looked great. It’s not that Breitbart couldn’t have died of natural causes, it just looked so suspicious, and the coroner poisoned? Also I adored him and in my opinion it was such a blow for the country. He definitely made the wrong, no, the right, enemies.

I agree he was not overweight.

Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but he looked almost twenty years older than his age to me that day.

Great speaker, nicer man in person, great warrior, and had this sly humor about him.

It was interesting, Michelle Malkin was at that conference, and she had a huge line for signing her book.

I love her and her work, but wanted to see Breitbart even more. He was a better speaker than she was. His line was so short, we were last, so I got to speak with him for more than ten minutes.

He signed his book Take it to the man!

He broke off the conversation because he wanted to go down town where he heard Michael Moore was wandering around. He was going to get MM's reaction after congratulating him for being a great and successful capitalist. I don't think he found him. Most unfortunate.
