Remember hope? Or, to be more specific: remember âHOPEâ?
Shepard Fairey, the âartistâ who âcreatedâ that iconic image, is back. And youâll never guess which presidential candidate heâs supporting this time!

Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: Is that Lady Liberty being burned at the stake?!?
Could’a knocked me over with a feather. Never saw this coming...
The original HOPE image was pretty heavily derived from that. The new one is sort of a mash up of National Socialist and ironically 1920’s American commercial art.
They’re hopeless.
But the ice cream is not free.
And Bernie’s Yearning?
Yuck.

From Shepard Fairey's official website (ObeyGiant.com):
Check it out! I got a thank you note from Barack Obama. If he is elected, maybe I have a get out of jail free card. All kidding aside, I'm honored to be acknowledged by someone so important to the future of our country. Also, the Obama campaign asked me to do a poster illustration for sale on their site. It should be out next week on barackobama.com.-Shepard

Here is the text of the 'thank you letter' Barack Obama sent to Shepard Fairey:
"Dear Shepard, I would like to thank you for using your talent in support of my campaign. The political messages involved in your work have encouraged Americans to believe they can help change the status quo. Your images have a profound effect on people, whether seen in a gallery or on a stop sign. I am privileged to be a part of your artwork and proud to have your support. I wish you continued success and creativity.
Sincerely, Barack Obama.'"

Practice the Suck!
Satan Rising from the Bottomless Pit.......................Don’t forget, he’s and angel as well.........................
It is a weird mashup of several things, including that. Liberty as Atlas, unable to shrug; Liberty supporting something like a presidential seal, the whole forming an ersatz cross... It is a weird, awkward conglomerate of images from the 1880s to the 1920s.
I suppose it is appropriately awkward, unclear and dated.
Ping to miss marmelstein and Fantasywriter because of art history and messaging interest.
“I’m just amused that the communist who lamented America’s “23 brands of deodorant” is now selling dozens of overpriced gimcracks and gee-gaws to help fund his pursuit of power.”
Good passage from the article.
Sucks to suck.
As descriptive a name as I have ever seen.
Somebody needs to photoshop that onto Charlotte Hubbell-Clinton-Mezvinsky, LOL
When I was in business, I had an associate in San Francisco named Bruce Fairey - thanks to my prickish sense of humor, he got tagged with another moniker: The Tragically Named One.
