Poetic Juctice? Obama Was 1st US President To Vote To Filibuster A Supreme Court Nominee
Western Journalism ^ | February 15, 2016 | Randy DeSoto

...In 2006, while no doubt starting to lay his eyes on a presidential run, then-Sen. Obama had no problem throwing a wrench in the works of democracy by voting to filibuster George Bush's nominee to the high court, Samuel Alito.

Obama told George Stephanopoulos on ABC News This Week that he would "be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly."

In other words, because Alito did not share his judicial philosophy and he felt the judge's ascension to the Supreme Court would not allow an independent check on the excessive use of executive branch power, Obama, in fact, voted to block the appointment.

Then-Sen. John Kerry led the effort to filibuster Alito, which ultimately came up short, and the judge was approved.

Some Democrat rules:

Never let a crisis go to waste.

Play emotion to an advantage.

Do as I say. Not as I do, or I have done,

The Won was asked about this yesterday at the press conference. His answer was rambling and incoherent.

You forgot one or two:

It's always someone else's fault.

If you lose or are going to lose, change the rules and try again.

"I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values"

I hate a lot of things about that lying pr*ck Obama, but one of the things that I hate most is that he has the gall to position himself as defender of "core American values."

I doubt he even understands what core American values are, but if he does, he certainly sees them as something to destroy.

There are several Obama quotes about this that are recorded. Some our lengthy explanations of why it is good to fillibuster and why GWB should not get a nominee.

I want all the GOP Senators to print these out and read Obama’s statements on the issue without noting that they were Obama’s words. Let the media “uncover” Obama’s words that way. It would give them something to discover and investigate.

Because Obama failed, everyone else should, too. Another one of their rules. You know, leveling the playing field and all that.

Alito would STILL be a better SCJ than Ginsburg and Meyier if a case were heard today. He’d certainly do less damage.

Every word that comes out of Obama’s mouth is BS to suit the needs of the moment.
