Donald Trump holds a broad 16-point lead among those likely to vote in South Carolina's Republican primary this Saturday, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton tops Bernie Sanders by 18 points in the state's Democratic primary, which will be held a week later.

In the Republican race, Trump, at 38%, tops Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who holds second place with 22%. Behind those two, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio garners 14% support, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is at 10%, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has 6% and Ohio Gov. John Kasich is at 4%.

"We were told Ted was going to win big with evangelicals."

Evangelicals have a lower tolerance for deception than most.

They are not stupid voters or one trick ponies as some like to think.

They dominate in Iowa, as a closed clique, but they are a much broader and diverse electorate than many realize.

They wanted me to send 5 bucks for a “chance” to go to the debate.

That was a bit stupid.

Crosstabs telling, again: Trump 2:1 over Cruz on ISIS: 2:1 over Cruz on “best chance to win” and HELLO 4:1 over Cruz on “best chance to change Washington” (what I have been saying. This is the answer to the “Why haven’t conservatives gone to Cruz” question)

Trump 53-18 over Cruz on illegals

Trump 58-14 over Cruz on “Economy”

Trump 34-24 over Cruz among “college”

Trump 29-22 over Cruz on “foreign policy”

Trump 36-26 over Cruz among “conservative”

Trump 36-22 among “over $50k income” (i.e., college again)

Trump 28-21 over Cruz on “social policies”

Trump 27-26 over Cruz on “best represent values of Republicans” (very interesting, which says, people see being a “Republican” as not nearly as important as fixing the country.

almost 50% made up their mind already, and 20% pretty sure (in line with CBS poll earlier)

It will be interesting to see where Cruz comes in for this election.

I don’t see 20% in his future, but he may pull it off.

I’m surprised a bit that this was so close, but then again, the word “Republican” means little to most of us these days.

If Trump is ahead by that much with evangelicals, this SC primary is going to be crushing to Trump’s opposition.

For the first time in decades, lets put America first. Lets make American interest #1 priority. Putting America first is not a foreign concept.

Looks like the Bernie supporters switched over to trump in the open primary

Nonsense. Bernie supporters are passionate about their sugar daddy, err I mean candidate.

If anything, it would be Hillary supporters crossing over.

I hope that Cruz isn't mixing up a batch of Kool-Aid for when he loses the nomination

Grape Kool-Aid is the choice of Demi-Gods.

CNN POLL: Trump 38%, Cruz 22%, Rubio 14% , Jeb Bush 10%, Ben Carson 6% Kasich 4%.

SCHouseGOP poll taken after debate : Trump 33 Cruz 14 Rubio 14 Bush 13 Kasich 10

freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3397489/posts

Say let me see if I get this right.

Ted Cruz is at 22% and 14% at the same time.
Rubio is at 14% in both polls.
Kasich however, is at 10% in one and 4% n the other.

The polls are all over the place. South Carolina is notorious for dirty tricks and wrong polls. Forget the polls and concentrate on a hard core fearsome ground game.
