As the nation and official Washington prepared to mourn the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, watchers of the high court began to assess the immediate impact of his death on several pending cases whose decisions might have had momentous political implications.
Among these is Friedrichs v. California Teacherâs Association, set to have been a landmark case regarding the mandatory collection of union dues and their use for political purposes. The ruling could have meant the death knell of collective bargaining and the political might of Americaâs unions. newzf After oral arguments in the case in January, The Washington Post indicated the courtâs conservative majority, including Scalia, were leaning to rule against the unions ability to collect mandatory dues.
But Scaliaâs passing â and the news that the Republic-led Senate will likely not confirm an Obama nominee â means such cases could up with 4-4 decisions. Lacking a majority, the lower courtâs rulings will stand.
In the Friedrichs case, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled in favor of the teacherâs union.
Had the Supreme Court ruled that union dues could not be used for political purposes, it would have dealt a major blow to one of the Democratic partyâs most powerful assets.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Wow.
All I can say is, no democrat judge should have had the authority to say whether he died of natural causes and whether or not an autopsy should be performed. There is a HUGE conflict of interest there.
Motive
That’s Exactly what I thought as well.
Mafia / unions helped knock of JFK possibly RFK.
SCOTUS & Scalia were ruling against on whether compulsory union dues and membership were constitutional.
This would have caused a death blow to unions who were already suffering huge declines in membership.
Scalia’s death will accelerate craven leftist power grab, affecting all future interpretation of constitutionality, including limits on the executive branch’s power, ie: Exec Orders.
We are going to see a Revolt, and return of mass civil disobedience.
Unions involved in assassination? The devil you say.
“... the plot thickens ...”
Yes it does. And .. we can’t have the UNIONS losing their precious power .. after all .. if they did .. the DemocRATS wouldn’t have any funds to wage all their smear campaigns.
Gee, that would never happen.
That is enough in itself to get one “taken out” about ten times over. Anyone who wanted a fat 78 year old smoker dead would obviously make an effort to make it look like a death from “natural causes”. That is as obvious as the nose on your face. No autopsy in this case is outrageous.
but there is absolutely nothing to be done about it....
freepers voted...bammey was elected....people need to look themselves in the mirror.
preventable by one senator holding a “pro forma” session? with a precedent under Bush 42?
My dear Watson, it looks as though something might be amiss here.
Well, if Vince Foster can levitate 400 feet through Ft. Marcy Park, anything is possible.
The Pelican Brief
Let it be known that the attending physician took enough blood for a “ TOX SCREEN”. Then sit back and watch the action.
Possibly more Arkancide??
Obama tells Clinton. You take care of Scalia and I’ll see that you don’t go to Levenworth for treason.
Part of the plan. Too much at stake for the Reds.
For those who so quickly dismissed the idea of supporting Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker for POTUS, wouldn't you have liked having him name Scalia's successor? If not, you don't know Scott Walker's track record in Wisconsin.
I put nothing past this administration and the level of evil that exists within it. Scalia went to his doctor the Wednesday before his hunting trip. If he showed any sign of being ill, I’m sure his doctor would have cleared him. If you have a serious heart problem, you would not go on a hunting trip.
Breitbart is on it.
