I was thinking more in terms of bowels and urine. He would have had to die early to have no rumpled bed sheets etc. No one sleeps like a corpse for 8 hours with hands folded on their chest unless maybe he was doped up on pain meds or something.
So there were many hours that passed.
If his family is adamant they don’t want an autopsy, they have reasons that are private. Lots of possibilities.
An embalming is not a dissection, as is an autopsy.
That was exactly what I was thinking.
They might want him to be in good condition given the number of people that would want to visit to pay their respects.
