When the shocking news of Justice Antonin Scalia's passing hit Saturday night, my mind raced back to a White House Correspondents Association dinner seven years ago, when we were seated together.
We bantered about my hometown of Chicago, where he had taught law before ascending to the bench. He opined on wine and music and generally lived up to his reputation as a man who told and enjoyed a good story.

Rest in Peace Justice Scalia, you will be missed.
He is a liar. Scalia would never EVER want another liberal appointed to the SC. That is just like a communist liberal to try to tarnish the man’s good name. Notice Axlerod did say anything about this when Scalia was alive? What a POS.
Yes I heard it also that Kagan and he were friends. It has also been well known that he and Ginsburg were real close friends. They didn’t share the same beliefs but they liked each other.
Don’t buy it....for one second.
Judge Napolitano was saying that his best friend was Ruth Bader Ginsberg. They both loved the opera.
Well he was beside me once in an airport. I asked how he wanted things to go. He leaned over and narrowed his eyes, and said Roberts was blackmailed for being a homo and adopting kids.
He said never trust an Ivy Leager again....ever.
I was shocked. But it happened just that way.
Yep...
I remember well the last time I had the flu and my dear friend Tony, Antonin to all of you cretins, drove all the way from D.C. to Texas to bring me chicken soup. In a terrible blizzard! ;)
Who is ‘he’?
Justice Scalia of course. Like Axlerod, I decided to just keep it to myself while he was alive. But now I can tell everyone.
Oh, and he said Kagan wasn’t too bright.
Axelrod molests collies.
L
Just collies?
Is anyone stupid enough to believe anything the scum Axelrod would say?
Everyone knows that Scalia would have wanted a staunch Conservative. No one has said otherwise, but under the conditions, which Scalia understood, it makes sense that he would want someone he liked and respected.
