Same in NY, if the body is found alone an autopsy is mandatory.

as with many of us, it seems he was joyful as he made his way home. i hope there’s no autopsy. it won’t change anything about his “wonderful life.”

I thought unattended deaths pretty much everywhere required an autopsy.

Well, seeing as he seemed perfectly healthy just hours earlier, and he was a complete nobody with no importance at all, it seems unnecessary to even have a doctor simply glance at the body... much less go to all the trouble of an autopsy.

Do you know if the body in sudden death lays in repose undisturbed?

“In NM, it’s state law to preform autopsy when a body is found alone...I guess it’s not so in Texas.”

I thought it IS so in Texas, just like NM. That’s been my experience, anyway. If a body is found alone, it’s an automatic autopsy no matter what the family wants.

Maybe the laws changed recently.

So, he had been in bed since the night before? If he did indeed die, it must have been right after he went to bed. we all move a little bit in our sleep, and would most definitely rumple the sheets and bedding.

Sorry, but an autopsy should indeed be performed; especially if he was in reasonably good health, which I believe he was.

This already stinks to high heaven, and we all know the GOPe will do nothing to fight this, or Obama doing a recess appointment!

Heretofore, I've shared your same thought, with the exception of being under the close care of a doctor, and already having a diagnosed, life-ending disease or health issue.

"It was an honor to have had him," the host said. "He was surrounded by 35 odd admirers. He was at a beautiful location, which he remarked upon several times as being very much to his taste. He was doing what he liked to do, which was being outdoors. He had no apparent pain or distress in his death. While an absolute tragedy, it could have happened at worse places and worse circumstances than it happened here."

IIRC, Vince Foster was found laying flat on his back, legs together and straight out, and his both arms by his sides.

It sounds like a lovely way to leave this world. Assuming no foul play was involved, I’m glad he just fell from this earth to God’s arms.

If I am to go, I want to go the way Scalia did.

My mother had a friend, in pretty good health for being in his 90s, who went to take a nap and didn't wake up. When she emailed me about it, she said, "God really loved Ted!"

Valerie Jarrett on the Supreme Court?!
God forbid!

As an aside, I thought SCOTUS candidates has to have significant judicial trial experience - correct?

He was a Catholic and used to joke about his son, a priest, whom he called “Father.”

May God bless the entire family as they grieve. Hopefully Father Paul Scalia, his son, will say the requiem Mass.

Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara told WFAA Dallas that she pronounced Scalia dead due to a heart attack, but Lujan said he had not seen a death certificate reflecting that. Guevara did not immediately return calls Sunday.

Absent any evidence whatsoever of foul play I think the wishes of the family should be respected.

I wonder how much "the wishes of the family" cost the administration.

All I know is that is how my dad died, in bed with bedsheets, blanket, etc., undisturbed. He had had a number of strokes in prior years but was ambulatory to the night he passed.

Scalia was in a large room, the “El Presidente” suite...

http://www.cibolocreekranch.com/rooms-en.html#item_81

El Presidente Grand Suite at Cibolo Lakeside houses 1,100 square feet of space that includes ceiling-to-floor glass doors and windows facing the lake, a private outdoor fire pit, a leather couch and chairs, a separate stand-up shower, hand-painted double sinks and a ceramic tile wet bar.
