The opening questions of the CBS Republican debate naturally surrounded the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, with Donald Trump being the first up to bat. Responding to the question of appointing Justice Scalia's replacement, Trump said he believed Obama would pick a successor within the remaining 11 months of his presidency- and if Trump were in the president's shoes, he would do the same.
Nevertheless, Trump had some advice to those interested in protecting Scalia's legacy of conservatism: "Delay, delay, delay." Watch below.

The others were rather mealymouthed about it, saying that they hoped 0bama wouldn’t try to force a liberal judge down the throat of the Senate. At least Trump is smart enough to know that that is precisely what 0bama will attempt to do.
The one that interests me MORE is not what Trump’s recommended strategy to Congress is, but the KIND OF JUSTICE he himself would appoint.
This was the perfect time to ask him the question. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to answer it.
Trump is right, this is exactly what we need to do. This is what we need to FIGHT for; Obama is going to use every tactic in the book to get his leftist hack through. We know this. We must fight this.
I say all of this, including Trump is “right” as an ardent Cruz supporter. We must unite on this. Whomever says or does the right things we must support without hesitation. I wholeheartedly support Trump here, when he says this. He is right, this is our plan, this must be our plan. We must support this, no matter how much we may dislike the candidate Trump. He is right on this.
This is our plan. Obfuscate Obama’s plan!
I don’t know how anyone can pretend Obama won’t spring to take advantage of the situation. Of course he will. He’ll probably twist the arm of Congress and try to make a ‘deal’ that he’ll concede on a certain piece of legislation if they’ll confirm his pet pick. Then of course, Ryan and McConnell will push through a confirmation (like Obama dupes) and Obama will go back on his word.
Is there a provision for the Supreme Court to operate with a vacancy? Or, does all work come to a stop now?
Not just that, Jeb and Kasich were spouting out nonsense about asking Obama to put forward a consensus candidate. What the hell was that?
“This was the perfect time to ask him the question. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to answer it”
I thought Trump named two Justices he would consider. Didn’t he? He named Bill Pryor and Diane Sykes. I guess a little looking into their background might give us a clue.
“I say all of this, including Trump is ârightâ as an ardent Cruz supporter.”
I agree and if you think about it, this situation may give Cruz a chance to shine. Trump is not in Congress. He has no sway over the nominating process of the next Justice.
But Cruz IS in Congress and Cruz CAN hold up the nomination, or at least try to lead the fight to do so. I think that would gain him much respect.
A new generation needs to understand what the term “Borking” means.
What a bunch of pussy-cats! Of course he will.
RE: I thought Trump named two Justices he would consider. Didn’t he? He named Bill Pryor and Diane Sykes
Cold you provide a source for that? Thanks.
Quisling, appeasing RINOism....that is what it was. These two are traitors to conservatism anywhere. They are traitors and Democrats in my book and I would not vote for either one of them.
“Delay, Delay, Delay” tells you exactly what you need to know if you are willing to listen.
Damn right delay this. No way could we let him appoint another liberal fascist.
obama and the democrats are going to push, push, push - VERY hard - to get in their own guy.
And he (or she) will be very much to the Left of Lenin.
The USSC started out with 1 Chief and 5 Justices for a long time. I seem to recall an FDR plan, called the “Court Packing Plan” where he wanted up to 15 justices + chief. Somewhere they added three more to create an odd number.
AFAIK, Obama getting his pick of three of nine IS court packing and I will not stand for it. I don’t care what we have to do to stop this, but we most certainly must.
“but the KIND OF JUSTICE he himself would appoint.”
One of the most critical reasons in deciding who to vote for.
We gotta stop thinking lack of spine or principle - some of that too. Its' actually worse. Its sell-out - all four trotters in the trough.
So I take it the retarded “he wanted to appoint his sister” comments can now effectivly end?
