Trump Only Candidate to Address 1,400 Indianapolis Workers Whose Jobs Are Being Sent to Mexico

During tonight's CBS Republican presidential debate, Donald Trump was the only candidate to address the news that Carrier will be sending hundreds of American jobs to Mexico.

The GOP frontrunner said that under a President Trump, Carrier would stay and "build in the United States because we are killing ourselves with trade pacts that are no good for us and no good for our workers."

Video footage emerged yesterday, which went viral, capturing the anger and heartache of 1,400 Indianapolis workers who were informed that they soon would be out of work, as their company will be sending their jobs to Mexico. The New York Post described the video as "stomach-turning."

The company representative tried to quiet the crowd, as workers of different races and ethnicities cried out in outrage and despair. "Let's quiet down," the company representative said in the video.

If you have not watched that video please do it. It is a perfect example of the impersonal cruelty of big business. Its bad enough the company is moving to Mexico but they announce it to 1400 unsuspecting workers and then say its not personal and then have the insensitivity to continue on about how the company will be so much better off in Mexico like these people give a chit at that point. Its unreal.

At the very least the company could have had supervisors break the news to employees in small groups and maybe even toss them a bone that they are bringing in recruiters to try to get people a new job. But no they did not even do that.

I have to tell you no more carrier A/C units at the GG2 household.

***Why not? We sell our American made things to Mexico and a whole lot of other countries. All Trump will do is make other countries hostile to us as happened with tariffs just before the depression.

Trump should welcome jobs moving to Mexico since that will keep illegals from coming here for jobs. Big deal. ***

Keep illegals from coming here? Your living in fantasy land if you think illegals will stop coming. They still want the handouts we’re paying for.

If conservatism has become people like you and others on this thread who don’t give a damn about Americans losing their jobs for cheap labor overseas or Mr. H1B himself who is for foreigners coming here and taking our jobs, the I’m out. I don’t want any part of your Conservatism.

This site is full of deranged people who aren’t about a philosophy but people worship. Group think has turned people’s brains to mush.

UTC, Carriers parent, reported profits of around $8 billion last year. It isn't a question of being profitable. It's a case of wanting larger profits by reducing costs.

BINGO!

At the expense of America. Profits regardless of consequences.

Since these companies have zero allegiance to America, they should be treated the exact same way.

Well when Carrier gets down to Mehico they can pay skilled workers less than $5 per hour just like Chrysler, GM and Ford and make even more billions.

Labor is really a small part of the cost of production. Maybe 8% per unit even at union rates. Carrier is dong this for a few pennies on the dollar. Not only that NONE of the reduced cost savings will be passed on the the consumer. Quality always suffers.

***That is true.

Pure conservative theorists don’t give a damn about people***

Exactly, then you basically get accused on here of not being a Christian if you don’t worship at Cruz’s feet. It’s like this whole site is turning into the Religious forum. I stay away from there because I’m Catholic.

The same ones who are accusing others of not being Christians are the same ones who could care less about people losing their jobs.

You clearly don't get it. For 35+ years fatcorps have been off shoring American jobs by the hundreds of thousands, along with entire American industries as those in D.C. wink and nod.

What else has happened in those past 35 years?

The federation of frauds in D.C. rolled out the red carpet for tens of millions of illegals. They off shore American jobs and entire industries, and then for decades they literally flood the country with low wage illegal labor..

This was no mistake or a fluke. These AH's in D.C. are literally standing on the throats of Americans. It's all part of the plan to weaken the U.S. And so far they've done a near perfect job.

I used to have some sympathy for business moving out the country if they were going broke here but the truth is it appears they are not leaving for that reason. So now I can’t argue with Trump when he says fine leave and then pay a 35% tariff on your product coming back in.

Do I get to guess that these hobs were union jobs?

The country has run out of reasons to keep unions pushing for higher & higher wages which can lead to a company choosing to take the company out of our boundaries.

The artificial structure of unions supports the worst worker at the expense of the best worker & at the cost of the company.

I have been forced to be in 5 unions in my 60 years of working. I have seen enough to be dispirited at the least & disgusted at the best. I can never support unions in any way shape or form.

When the lazy, lying, drunk worker keeps getting a pas with the union & the on time, efficient worker gets fired for being good at their job, something is deadly wrong.

Blame all this on lazy drunk Americans? This is a joke right?

Did it occur to you there are now MORE unionized government employees than exist in ALL of private sector America?

Soon, someone will stop by and explain why 200 million of us have to pay higher taxes to save 1400 jobs.

Tell me, do you see a middle class left anywhere? You think the economy works without one? Your taxes will be a whole lot less with these people working good paying jobs.

Maybe I missed your point. Otherwise, I'll ask, did you stumble into maybe a different forum than you were looking for?

What a coincidence! I've been asking myself the same question! Here I am, trying to break into the middle class (although I have finally made it into the lower tier), and ostensible conservatives are trying to keep me from climbing any higher. AND . . . I'm the guy who doesn't care about people, according to them. Codswallop.

Only 7% of the overall US workforce is unionized. Only 10% of the manufacturing workers are unionized. Yesterday’s battle.

I did not follow your post. Maybe you can clarify. Feel for you though trying to break into the middle class in this day and age. Middle class is shrinking. Not sure how conservatives are fighting you. Happy to hear that detail but certainly there are some people calling themselves conservatives that should not be. Anyhow, waiting for your reply.

Again, here I am, scrambling to get by, and climb that ladder . . . and folks are telling me that I need to open my wallet in order to help some amorphous "little guy."

Hey, I AM the little guy, and I just want these people to leave me alone.

I would like to pay lower taxes by having less Americans sitting at home collecting unemployment checks and welfare. Trump seems to be the only candidate who is looking to create an economy in which we can all pay lower taxes.

And that’s the rub. I look askance at people who argue that I should pay higher taxes now and promise me that by doing so, I may pay lower taxes in the future.
