Senior U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia found dead at West Texas ranch

Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.

Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.

"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

First and foremost: please say a prayer for his wife and his children.

.
.
As for replacing him: this is why it really doesn’t matter to me who eventually gets nominated (I have preferences, but our primary is so late it doesn’t much matter). Whoever we nominate has my vote.

Period, end of story. I don’t let personal hangups get in the way of the one blinding issue: Liberty wins and Communism loses. If anyone has some sort of personal hangup about a nominee, whatever that major malfunction is, get over it. We had that in spades the last time around and it was disgusting.

Obama probably has already had a list of Supreme Court nominees investigated and ready to go for months or years.

McConnell must be persuaded not to recess.

Don’t recess, just don’t schedule any meetings.

“There’s nothing on our calendar, but we’re in session.” All you have to do is send one or two guys over to call the Senate to order, move adjournment, and go home.

Biden? Assuming he’s not waiting for a Hillary indictment recommendation to collapse her campaign.

Yep. But will he do so.

In my opinion, with the republicans likely to lose the senate in November, it would be better for democrats to wait until the new presidency as well.

1. With the Senate they block anyone.

2. With both the president and the Senate they get exactly what the selection they want.

3. With Obama and the Senate in Republican hands, they get a compromise or they get nothing.

It only takes a few to filibuster it. What we need the RINOs to do is keep voting no on cloture, so the filibuster can continue.

Foul play! (pardon me if this has been ruled out, as I just became aware of his death and haven’t read beyond this headline, just my initial reaction). God help us all.

f he ever becomes president, let’s hope he rules it out permanently. Maryanne Trump Barry came up in my book The Party of Death for writing one of those heated judicial decisions in favor of giving constitutional protection to partial-birth abortion. She called a New Jersey law against it a “desperate attempt” to undermine Roe v. Wade. It was, she wrote, “based on semantic machinations, irrational line-drawing, and an obvious attempt to inflame public opinion instead of logic or medical evidence.” It made no difference where the fetus was when it “expired.”
That’s right — Donald Trump’s sister wrote in 2000 that it should be legal to kill babies up to the point of departing their mother’s womb. And he’s cool with her being on the Supreme Court.

The tyrant will appoint someone pronto, from the far left, then he’ll stomp his feet and yell and scream if the Republicans hold up the nomination.

Get ready for an all-out temper tantrum that will dominate the news cycle for weeks or even months.

“I thought his remarks were very, very tough. I think they were very, very tough to the African American community actually. I don’t like what he said, no,” Trump said.

He’d rather have his pro-abort sister.

POTUS Cruz would consult liberal Larry Tribe again on Scotus nominations. What could go wrong?

“The judge said nothing would probably be done until the next president is in.”

Quote is U.S. District Judge Fred Biery.

BUT...the judge is basing that comment on 80 years of history wherein no President has made a Supreme Court appointment during a Presidential Election cycle.

I fully expect the despicable, lop-eared Kenyan interloper currently befouling the Oval Office to BREAK that venerable tradition as he sees yet another opportunity to land a salvo against this nation and against the Constitution he disdains with every fiber of his infernal being.
