Few professional analysts seriously expected six months ago that Donald Trump could win the Republican nomination. But after Tuesday night, it is a clear possibility.
How much of a possibility? To get that answer right, it is important to understand some things about the Trump phenomenon.
Perhaps most important, Trump's campaign is not a Tea Party phenomenon. While there's been a tendency to try to lump Trump in with various G.O.P. insurgencies of the last few years, that role is best filled by Sen. Ted Cruz, who really occupies the "Tea Party lane" of the G.O.P. primary more cleanly.
Instead, Trump is a part of a much older insurgency within the G.O.P., dating back to the 1992 Pat Buchanan campaign and even to some internal debates within the Nixon administration. Candidates in this vein, such as Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Rick Santorum, have argued from varying angles that the economic libertarianism of the G.O.P. is a tough sell, and should be pulled more toward an economic populism that allows for increased redistribution and for helping the "little guy" who has been left behind in the era of globalization. It is because of this confusion that so many of the early attacks on Trump - from questioning his conservative bona fides to making fun of the way he talked - fell flat. Trump's voters simply didn't care about these things.

It’s so kind of the New York Slimes to offer their friendly and helpful insight into the Trump campaign. Good luck with all that.
Interesting article and New York Times.
Laminated?
Why would they want to laminate it?
Oh.
Never-mind...
Yep, Trump has now hit the ceiling for the 9th time since they first said he had done it.
Tune in again this fall when Trump will once again have hit the ceiling, then for the 14th time.
It seems that nobody likes Trump except the people who love him.
You are such a troll. I hope JimRob nukes your @ss again.
Click your heels together and repeat after me..........
Trump people are so sure.
If only I were that sure.
I disagree.
TBBT is a good person. Liking someone besides The Don does not make him a bad person.
Barack Obama may stop being an A-Hole too.
May, but not likely.
Epic moment from the kettle calling the pot black syndrome.
Look at the lower left of the picture: Section 46, Row K, Seat 7 is EMPTY.
This PROVES that Trump’s supporting is slipping, as he cannot even fill that arena.
But he’s dead now. Trump has peaked. The NYT has said so. Again.
The NYT can’t utter a word without showing its rabid bias. It’s a totally partisan rag that no longer serves any useful purpose whatsoever.
One Man’s Ceiling Is Another Man’s Floor
Truly amazing.
All those people listening to the aging frat boy making the same promises over and over again.
I understand he had another hissy fit and used those short fingers to tweet out a bunch of stuff about suing Ted Cruz.
Why can’t you people relax and be gracious. Look at his lead.
What’s wrong with you all?
