Unless he was a naturalized citizen it is. He was not naturalized, therefore a natural born citizen - there is no other (3rd) type.

Show me the naturalization paperwork and I’ll believe it’s a problem. ...except nobody can, because he was never naturalized.

And if all is true, then he is a man without a country since mid 2014 when he renounced his Canadian citizenship.

Even if you are already sold on Cruz’s status, the whole issue is such an incredible brain buster that it’s fun just trying to keep up with all the twists and turns.

Thank you, Cboldt. I actually was sent a copy of the specific chapter and verse...I’m learning so much. Glad he will not lose his Senate seat over this. The huge amount of postings on this subject every time it comes up, just proves this is not going away unless Cruz grabs the bull by the horns and applies for a ruling...I fear it will disqualify him, though. There is no evidence that Cruz’s mother voted in Canadian elections. His parents were on an address list of people who lived in a voting district that was used by the Canadian election authorities. It was not a list of registered voters in the district.

Do you have evidence that she actually became a naturalized citizen of Canada in order to register and vote in their elections?

If not, you are simply spreading a lie.

I agree. I’d not paid much attention to this, but now I don’t understand why Cruz had not been fully transparent on this issue.

Yet the Law of Nations is the origin of the “
“natural born citizen” meaning.
What is alarming is the ignorance displayed here and the sarcastic attitude toward what should be a MAJOR concern of Americans that the right people are elected to lead them. They dismiss the Constitution as if it doesn’t exist and yet they claim all sorts of Conservative feelings. It is really sad to see. What happened to loyalty to the Constitution?

I don’t remember. My kids got their SS cards at birth, but how? Maybe it is something hospitals give you a form for?

That is one of the most telling things about the case of Barack Obama. He never had a legit SS number. From age 16-the presidency.

Look, it is looking more and more as if Ted Cruz came to the United States illegally in 1974, and no paperwork was filed to establish his US Citizenship until 1986 (IIRC), and that was under the Naturalization Act in force at the time. He renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014, after he was already serving in the United States Senate.

Now if Ted Cruz shows the paperwork that was filed in 1986 to allow him to get a US Passport, we can settle the matter of both his citizenship (yes) and whether he was a natural-born American (no). If he doesn’t show the paperwork, than this remains in legal limbo.

Now what does THIS mean?

This means Raphael Cruz is a Canadian anchor baby. Who was brought to America illegally.... proper forms were not filed to bring this Canadian boy to America. Ted was an illegal alien.

He might! There is a body of evidence that has not been probed at all, that affects his very citizenship. Under the law that granted him citizenship, he must have a five year continuous US physical presence any time between the ages of 14 and 28. A trip across the border resets that five year clock. Anecdotal evidence has him traveling to the UK and to Canada after the age of 14. I would not assume it is a slam dunk that he ever went a continuous five year period without setting foot outside the US, before he reached the age of 28.

"Because it's a giant nothingburger and you know it"

That is not an argument. And can you people STOP using that retarded word "nothingburger". You sound like damn fools. Like what on Earth is that even supposed to be?

"If there is any question on Cruz's eligibility, let Trump sue, like he always does"

If there is a problem then THIS person should do something....is also not an argument. The Democrats will if they need to. That is what you need to worry about because they arent going to pay attention to sniveling Cruz fans if they need to go after him.

"He won't because there is no doubt how SCOTUS will rule on this"

Clairvoyance is not an argument. In-fact saying that SCOTUS will rule in his favor (after Cruz has dismissed Roberts) is nothing short of insanity.

" so instead he let's it go on because it's a great way to continue lowlife attacks from the lowest-brow candidate and followers in U.S. history."

Ending with a rant is not an argument.

Dense read, not for the layman, but a governor of Nebraska was once temporarily unseated (on paper anyway) for not being a citizen. And get this, he was born in the US!

Boyd v. Nebraska ex Rel. Thayer, 143 U.S. 135 (1892)

“We need Cruz to prove to the American citizenship that he legal to run for the highest office in our Country...if he can’t do that, then he should drop out of the election...”

Goodness knows seeing the controversy around this, it is nothing short of pig-headed arrogance to just let this sit.

Cruz, Jindal, Rubio... hmm... we no longer need to wonder why FOX News, Beck, Levin, etc... were always so silent on Obama’s legitimacy, hey?

While you are correct that Cruz never needed to be naturalized, it’s not so simple.

1. We have no perfectly clear definition of natural born citizen and until we do, these issues will be fraught with argumentation.

2. He was not officially American until he was 16. Though he COULD have been, since birth, he wasn’t officially. That is bad optics for the presidency.

3. Ted Cruz knows 1 and 2, above. He has chosen not to address those two points honestly. That speaks directly to his character.

"Maybe you ran your own business, never traveled abroad, and I don’t know what you did for a SS number.

I never traveled abroad. My husband and I did own a business for a time. I got a SS number when I was 16 (so I could work). Went to school and I NEVER had to produce a Birth Certificate. It wasn't until I applied for SS when I was 62 and then they required it. I contacted the state I was born in and paid the money then received it. I was born at home and when I received it, it was a little card partially filled out by my mom (I could recognize her hand writing) the doctor, then my name was typed in later. This little card was then photo copied onto the green Birth Certificate paper. That green paper like Obama's.

No interestingly the references are about Americans calling the American consulate and being told they were taking an irrevocable step by becoming Canadian citizens. I suspect the draft dodging was part of the issue and a strong stance was mandated by the State Department. I also suspect a “don’t ask don’t tell” mechanism operated. Just come back and never tell anyone official and who would know you had become a Canadian citizen.

I am interested in the neighbor saying Cruz’s mother had applied at the consulate in Calgary after Raphael’s birth and was told the child had no American status because she had renounced her citizenship. Grain of salt operating here and the reference has been scrubbed since yesterday from the internet. The family just coming back and leaving things lie dormant would seem a good way to blend back in.
