Look, it is looking more and more as if Ted Cruz came to the United States illegally in 1974, and no paperwork was filed to establish his US Citizenship until 1986 (IIRC), and that was under the Naturalization Act in force at the time. He renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014, after he was already serving in the United States Senate.

Now if Ted Cruz shows the paperwork that was filed in 1986 to allow him to get a US Passport, we can settle the matter of both his citizenship (yes) and whether he was a natural-born American (no). If he doesn’t show the paperwork, than this remains in legal limbo.

How can somebody enter the USA in 1974 illegally and magically get citizenship in 1986 without going through the naturalization process?

I’m a naturalized citizen. I know the process. If he’s not naturalized then there’s no issue, just people trying to make it one. There is no 3rd type of citizen.

Was he naturalized or not? yes or no?
