Over the past several months, Free Republic has begun to show an ugly side of its members. Although admittedly comprised of many strong-willed, opinion-charged individuals presenting thoughtful, conservative insights into the topics of the day, this forum has begun to show a seamier side as the Trump-Cruz-Rubio-Carson 2016 Primary heated up. You all know what I mean. Many of you have either been at the giving or receiving end of EMOTIONALLY-charged attacks against various candidates or even individuals as their supporters.
Herewith a few thoughts I would like to share:
Well, this is what happens when one (Ok, I) become frustrated with the ad-hominem attacks against so many good people both on this site, and otherwise supportive of conservatism and the rise of a conservative Republican Party. We are all decent, America-loving conservatives who are driven to strive for what is best for returning this country to its pride.
Please Freepers, make your best case, and trust that whoever eventually runs against the Demobeast will, with God's light, be the right person for the job.
Let the flame-war begin, I have donned my suit! And God bless.
right there a great description of socialism by Jefferson
Jefferson - "The whole commerce between master and slave is a perpetual exercise of the most boisterous passions, the most unremitting despotism on the one part, and degrading submissions on the other. Our children see this, and learn to imitate it. . . ." - Notes on the State of Virginia
>>right there a great description of socialism by Jefferson
Absolutely. More than socialism - it refers to the historically observed natural tendency of collective government to impose itself upon the Individual. Thus the framework of government having a constituted purpose “TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS” - and protect the inalienable rights of the individual.
But Jefferson wasn’t perfect - he also said “I KNOW BUT ONE CODE OF MORALITY FOR MEN”
What was that code, and why was that idea flawed?
Well put.
Freedom is from God; not man.
The Constitution was instituted with that as its anchor.
The Constitution with its limits on government; is the only thing that will keep us free.
Free from both parties. True conservatism has the Constitution as its anchor.
There are a few Republicans who are conservative; no Democrats that I am aware of.
Freepers have always been nasty
Yeah, and we have had a republican congress for six years. They are all at the trough, and f—King useless.
If you think it will change in the next six, you are wrong. Sadly wrong.
Well, I've been here since 1998, and I'd say it gets this way every election cycle. You should have seen it when Romney was running.
Heck I remember the vitriol that was thrown at W during the primaries in 2000.
I hate when my auto correct puts in “real” words and I am not prompted. But you picked it up and ran for a touchdown! Thanks!

God and His self-evident Natural Law.
Romans 1:25+ describes what happens when a culture becomes the object of its own worship - defying God and Nature.
Last Sunday’s “cultural” display is symptomatic of the same condition.
It's proof of our depravity, the concession of which is the foundation of conservationism. But Trump thinks everyone is wonderful, special and amazing once they are out of his unapologetic way.
Please alert me when you’re ready for a list of new sign ons who are all in for Cruz.
It seems to me, some people take things far too personal, on both sides. Neither is above rolling around in the gutter. And that is the truth. I’ll gladly provide links to my assertion, however, if you are being honest with yourself you know it to be true.
I personally find some of what is posted to be so over the top, it just becomes white noise. I am more interested in what is happening right here in my neighborhood, and not what random people say on an forum.
In 2000 FR was “Keyes Central”, all other non-Keyes candidates were bashed like crazy.
IOW, there’s nothing new under the Sun (and FR).
A common medical disorder in which a cantankerous, old, senior citizen will not stop swearing. Usually directed toward ungrateful "youngsters" meaning anyone from 1 to 55 years of age.
Yer damn right. I like nothing better that sitting on my front porch in my bathrobe, shaking my fist and swearing at those damn high school kids when drive too fast past my house.

“TYRANNY OF THE ______________”?
Just wait young whippersnapper. You will remember my words the first time you are offered an over age 55 discount at a store. Mark my words the time is coming and will happen.
Supporting your candidate is great
Tearing down another candidate to advance your candidate isn’t great.
Attacking other posters because they don’t support your candidate is what liberals do and should be avoided at all costs.
The republicans proved they were worthless pigs just like the democrat fascists when they helped shove Newt out the door over false accusations and couldn't wait to be shed of Tom Delay over the same sort of thing. They were more than happy to have the best seats at the pig trough and let the Clinton crowd do whatever they liked.
Say what you like about Newt and Delay, they kept their promises to the voters, something no republican has done since.
The past six years are just more of the pigs rooting around for their favorite tidbits in the flood of Federal graft and corruption. For God's sake, the Pentagon can't account for several trillion dollars they've spent and that just gets shrugged off as a minor accounting error.
No chance most of that money was just payoffs to the right donors with a portion kicked back to the Congress critter they backed, right ?
Absolutely power corrupts absolutely, and since Congress ignored Clinton funding Kosovo by moving money around within the budget after getting away with Waco the President has for all intents and purposes wielded absolute power.
Just like the Senate in Rome at the time of Augustus Caesar, as long as they get a nice fat cut and deference Republicans are every bit as happy with the Imperial President as the Democrat Fascists are.
The only real difference is that at some point the Democrat Fascists will actually murder the majority of their opponents to install a "President" appointed by the Senate rather than the voters while the Republicans will always be too timid to do so.
Nothing I've seen here lately even comes close to those good times...
Take a deep breath and relax...
I’m not exactly sure how you mean that reply.
It’s just that I was hurt that someone called me such a profane name (just about the worst you can think of- containing the ‘f’ word) and it wasn’t deleted- and there’s no telling how many days this profanity had been up for all on this site to read. I had to ASK them to remove it.
It seems almost impossible to me that one of the Mods didn’t see it and delete.
This kind of obscenity is forbidden here, and I have been a loyal, contributing member for eight years.
I have never called any of my fellow Freepers profane names..nor would I
Extremely well-written post.
