Donald Trump has now made clear that the thrust of his campaign will not be conservatism. It will instead be populism and nationalism.
(Excerpt) Read more at breitbart.com ...
Uni vision isn’t the democratic party. The democrats have their crap together. And since Trump has aided their rise to power, maybe he can deal with them.
As for Conservative Purity, yes, a lot of Conservatives are funny about things like the Constitution and Bill Of Rights. trump has changed position on things some many times it isn’t funny. Which way is the wind blowing and that will be Trumps latest position. He was for Abortion, Gun Control, gay rights until he saw that it wasn’t popular with the Conservatives and then BOOM, he sounds like the next Goldwater.
You all can nominate this person and again conservatives will be forced to vote for another lying, scheming goofball. And in a year after Trump gets elected and starts screwing us, I wont say I told ya so.
Look at the demographics that are flocking to trump and ask why? What do THEY think is the current state of America? Are they confident of our leadership? Our economy? Our foreign policy? Do they feel respected by the establishment? Do they think Washington is listening to their concerns, or even cares? Do they think the world and our enemies especially respect and fear us enough to not attack us? Do they think obama respects individual freedom and the Constitution? Do they want Hillary Clinton as our next ruler? how will that change anything?
Why did Trump step in to run? As he said , he voted for McCain in 2008 and that didn't work. Then he voted fir Romney in 2912 and that didn't work. Then he told Melania, “ I'm going to go do it myself”
Ask yourself why
He is spending his own fortune running for POTUS when he was already a very wealthy, very powerful man whose name is known nationwide. If he wins his entire family's lives will be changed forever and not in a good way They will be reviled and their loves threatened. Perhaps forever. They are rich and powerful and living the good life and loving their work. So why take in this burden?
Actually I am surprised and gratified at their bravery and willingness to share Donald Trumps presidency . In his case and theirs it will be a unique sacrifice ... I just hope God and the Secret Service protect them all
You see, I have been in the miserable position of being the only person in the room who was right, before. I know what it takes to stand your ground against an entire corporate food chain because you are right. I know in the end it is a thankless task, earning you enmity instead of accolades, no matter how diplomatically you conduct yourself, and the eternal resentment of most of those who were wrong, at best whispered thanks from those whose butts you saved, or tried to.
I don't blame that on Cruz, I blame it on those about him who have abdicated their responsibility to those who elected them for whatever reason.
I admire someone who will stand alone, if need be, to fulfill the trust of those who put them there to do just that, whether taking that stand produces any lasting result or not.
Zero has hit a run every swing thanks to fake conservatives for 8 years but Trump followers think that was a fluke or something.
When the Left hogties DT don’t say you weren’t warned.
Less is the new more, just like losing is the new winning.
Nope..... more like the warped curiosity of watching the cult of personality of a reality television star, who unfortunately has no business being POTUS of this country..
Not exactly the same analogy, but similar was back in the old west, when one of the biggest attractions was always the display of slain outlaws. Same spectacle seeking crowd.
Reagan did present himself humbly but not meekly as a servant of the people
Not st all like trump who shows no humility
So the 2 men are 180 degrees apart in temperament
but each, I feel, uniquely gifted with leadership boldness we need now and info believe Trump is in touch with common concerns that are common across the economic ideological and racial spectrum
Even before the election I believe we may face a great manmade crisis because the wheels are coming off Obama’s economy
I do not fault your effort nor your admiration for Cruz’s character.
I don’t really disagree on that point.
However I prefer to keep things as honest as reasonably possible and consider the oft repeated lore that the Republicans did nothing to be Free Republic dogma that is in error
I want an inadvertant lurker to see that there is some sanity here
Cuz as long as Obama has the pen....it’s going no where. It’s a crock. I think the house has voted against Obamacare like 30 times.
Ben Shapiro (first of five today) hit piece alert.
Now I get it. He, Jay Cost, Jonah Goldberg, Jim Geraghty, are all getting paid by the article per hit piece on Trump.
The electorate is frustrated, sure enough, with the absence of effect, but I think much of that is an agency obstruction problem (DOJ, for one) which continues the moving screen for the criminal acts of this administration.
The capitulation of Boehner and McConnell on key points is execrable, and sets the tone for the rancor which follows. The voters are fed up, at least those who are out of work, lost businesses and or jobs, and a host of other reasons.
I just pray, in our frustration and desire to remedy the ills of this country that we do not act rashly and thus increase them.
Leadership is indeed a gift, and like all gifts, can be used for good or ill. I understand that you trust Mr. Trump, but when he speaks, I hear the modern equivalent of a promise to make the trains run on time.
Cruz has fought the democrats while Trump was giving them money and praise. but that donât matter. Trump will build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.
You said it all. I'm heartsick to read the threads here on FR now. Everything this site has stood for... Marriage between a man and woman, anti abortion, small government, a conservative way of living as a country is being tossed overboard now.
It almost happened overnight here.
FR has become a RINO spot. TRUMP is to the left of Romney. Sad.
Dole and Carter did not endorse
Both opined that trump would be more effective in working with congress
Nothing will change for the better for conservatives unless some power moves the congress
Lets say they openly favor Trump. I don’t think working effectively well with the Dems in Congress will further conservative interests. Cruz will tell Dems to “Embrace your own suck”. They deserve a beatdown like none before.
Politically Trump is on the right side of this.
The brand of Conservatism has been trashed in the minds of voters. At least where economics are concerned.
If Conservatism means “more of the same old crony Chamber of Commerce B.S” most voters are having none of it.
Conservatives have not effectively made the case that it is anything other than that. Largely thanks to being continually undermined by the likes of Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.
“Do you really want someone who can deal? Dealing is giving in.”
Have you ever bought a car? A house? That’s making a deal. Raised a child, gotten a job? Again, making deals. Life is full of making deals.
Uhhhhh, yeah, if he can make really good deals.
Do you really want someone whose only successful deal was getting TPA passed?
Some Indy Voters were torn between Trump and Sanders. that says a lot.
And less than 8 Months ago FR was all Cruz. Now its like Trump HQ now.
Actually, my lib friends at work are rooting for Trump to win the GOP nomination because they fear Cruz giving Hillary a serious fight. With Trump, they can stay on their playbook of “evil bigoted rich guy” versus “persecuted heroic woman.” It’s all about archetypes.
Peace,
SR
“For Donald Trump this is like a business deal. He is buying up GOP stock and itâs a hostile takeover. “
LOL, great analogy. And nobody wins deals like the Donald!
Cruz knows how to fight, but all too often ends up doing so alone.
Trump sees this country as a edifice that is crumbling, and has a grand vision of what needs to be fixed, and how to go about getting others to help him get that project done.
Cruz speaks of the need to defend and preserve the Constitution; Trump speaks to the more urgent need to defend and preserve our nation!
