Thursday, February 11, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Baton Rouge, LA at the Baton Rouge River Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM CST.
As the "Capital City", Baton Rouge is the political hub for Louisiana, and is the second-largest metropolitan city in the state, with an estimated population of 228,895 as of 2014. The metropolitan area surrounding the city, known as Greater Baton Rouge, had a population of 820,159 people as of 2013.The urban area has around 594,309 inhabitants.
HOW DID BATON ROUGE GET ITS NAME?
The French name le baton rouge ("the red stick") is the translation of a native term rendered as Istrouma, possibly a corruption of the Choctaw iti humma ("red pole") Andre Joseph Penicaut, a carpenter traveling with d'Iberville, published the first full-length account of the expedition in 1723. According to Penicaut,
"From there [Manchacq] we went five leagues higher and found very high banks called ecorts in that region, and in savage called Istrouma which means red stick [baton rouge], as at this place there is a post painted red that the savages have sunk there to mark the land line between the two nations, namely: the land of the Bayagoulas which they were leaving and the land of another nationâthirty leagues upstream from the baton rouge named the Oumas."

At this time, I have no idea if the event will be in the large arena or the theater.
“Itâs way past time that we start thinking about whatâs good for America instead of whatâs good for the political parties.
Trump wants whatâs good for America and eff the politics.”
THANK YOU!
Country before ‘party’
When the GOP ‘party’ straightens up then we can talk about it being a force to be considered. America first!
“It’s way past time that we start thinking about what’s good for America instead of what’s good for the political parties.”
Thank you! Democrats out. “Conservatives” out. Republicans out. America IN.
“America IN.”
Yes. THIS!!!!
Why can’t we all agree that America is the priority,,not some political agenda! America’s survival is at stake!
I agree that Cruz may be the most conservative(on the surface anyway) My argument against him is that being a perfect conservative does not mean they have the talents to be an effective administrator. In fact, I have serious doubts that Cruz could handle the job as president. He has absolutely no experience to prove otherwise and that is not a place for a hands on education.
Whoever we elect has got to hit the ground running from the moment they are sworn in and have the guts to do so. I see that happening with Trump. I hope “you’re fired” becomes the mantra in his first days in office.
Trump might not be the right one for the job either but I have lost all confidence in career politicians to accomplish anything worthwhile.
This is true, plus, who is Cruz going to assemble around him? Who will be loyal to him?
Trump, has the habit of getting the best people, and he will draw from everywhere. We have good people on our side.
And here’s another thing. There are some people with some pretty good conservative credentials that are for Trump not Cruz.
I think Cruz is probably more Conservative than Trump in the traditional sense.
I don’t think that translates into squat when it comes to leadership.
Trump is not a lawyer. Trump is not polished. Trump is blunt, rough and real. Those things don’t offend me.
The polished lawyer types in DC are what got us into this mess and it is a terrible mess. I’m done with career politicians.
I like that Trump has no donor pool he is beholden to. He is beholden only to the people!
Did Rush explain why the perfect conservative, Saint Cruz has a wife who makes $800K per year working for Goldman Sachs? Sounds like a bribe to any other politician other than his holiness.
It is amazing Trump is winning against every media person in the country who thinks it is their job to take him out.
That's because there are more of us than them. Thank goodness we don't get the vapors every time Mr. Trump says or does something that selectively outrages THEM.
Bush fully deserves Trump’s derision. This morning, I saw him say “Donald Trump said that all Mexicans are rapists” - which is nothing more than a bald-faced lie.
Trump is a team builder and a great one. He has to be in order to pull off and complete all his deals over the years. It takes teamwork.
I sort of admired Trump but wasn’t sure about his candidacy until Sarah Palin endorsed him That meant a lot. I admire her for many things but one reason I admire about her is one others use to trash her. When she resigned as governor of Alaska, I was impressed. A politician would do everything possible to hold on to power. Sarah gave it up for the good of her state and its citizens. Powerful stuff.
But the deciding factor for me was when I saw how childish and hateful Cruz supporters were towards her for endorsing Trump instead of Cruz.I mean, Sarah Palin has been an absolute warrior for the cause even while being heavily attacked from all sides. Had she endorsed Cruz, they would have fallen all over themselves in praise to her. I was angry to say the least.
Once I started paying more attention to Trump, he began to grow on me. I want an outsider and he is the best bet.
Lindsey Graham’s S.C co-chair joins Trump campaign
Bush said that? What a freakin’ liar. And Cruz says Trump bulldozed an old lady’s house. Another freakin’ liar.
Trump may not act all prim and proper, but the things he’s said about his opponents are true.
“Nope. He lead into a sentence where it would have fit in nicely, but he paused and sort of almost mouthed it and let the audience fill in the word with their imagination.”
Exactly right.
Baton Rouge Bump
Link...link, I haven;t read any of that; please post a link.
There’ll be a special place in Hell for the people who treated Sarah so badly, especially the people on “our” side. God doesn’t expect much from the other side, but for those who know better and still attack her ... it won’t be pretty.
Cruz’s orbit is eyeing an eventual three-man race between the Texas senator, Donald Trump and Rubio that shows no signs of consolidating quickly, according to conversations with nearly a dozen people tied to the campaign.
A few ways to clear the field more and make Rubio’s path even harder: Raise money. Remove Ben Carson from the race. And punish rivals in South Carolina with a harshly negative, military-themed pitch.

“Last night, I woke up and noticed this lump. Anyone have an idea what it might be?”
I don’t know, but I think it might have been sitting behind Trump at last night’s rally.
I don't know how, but his team does send out unsolicited JUNK via email, snail mail, and even to cell phones. :-(
