Trump was building his eponymous empire of hotels, casinos, and high rises in the early 1980s in New York City and Atlantic City. In both places, the construction industry was firmly under the thumb of the mafia. And in both places there are literally concrete connections between La Cosa Nostra and Trumpâs lavish projects. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Cay Johnston, who has covered Trump for decades, has written a very useful list of questions for Trump. Many focus on his ties to the mob. In addition in his 1992 book, âTrump, The Deals and the Downfall,â author Wayne Barrett lays out a slew of suspicious dealings and associations.
The Atlantic City story starts with Trumpâs purchase of a bar, at twice its market value, from Salvatore Testa, a made man in the Philadelphia mafia and son of Philip âChicken Manâ Testa, who was briefly head of the Philly mob after Angelo Brunoâs 1980 killing. Harrahâs casino, half owned by Trump, would be built on that land, and Trump would quickly buy out his partner, Harrahâs Entertainment, and rename the casino Trump Plaza.
Trump Plazaâs connection to the mob didnât end with the land purchase from Testa. Nicademo âLittle Nickyâ Scarfo (who became boss after the elder Testa was blown up) and his nephew Phillip âcrazy Philâ Leonetti controlled two of the major construction and concrete companies in Atlantic City. Both companies, Scarf, Inc. and Nat Nat, did work on the construction of Harrahâs, according the State of New Jersey Commission of Investigationâs 1986 report on organized crime. In addition, Scarfo, whose reign as head of the Philly mob was one of the bloodiest in history, controlled the bartenders union, which represented Trumpâs workers in Atlantic City, according to George Anastasiaâs book, âBlood and Honor.â
One more link to organized crime lurks in Trumpâs past Atlantic City dealings. He had a close association with Kenny Shapiro, an investment banker for Scarfo. According to secret recordings of then Scarfo attorney Robert F. Simone, Shapiro was intimately involved with bribing Atlantic City Mayor Michael J. Matthews, whose term would end in 1984 with a conviction on extortion charges. On the tapes, in 1983, Simone, talking about Leonetti, states: âHeâs a nice-looking boyâ¦Nickyâs nephew, he can sit with theâ¦mayor. Ah, and Kennyâs (Shapiro) got the mayor through this kid Phillip.â
Well that’s it...Trump is out
Sorry for the giant photo! It was smaller in google.
I dunno, what did your post 10 minutes before this one say?
Nice photo, did you take it?
H’s pretty close to that mob. It’s terrible. The sky is falling down.
Any New York real estate developer working when Trump did the majority of his actual real estate development would have “mob connections,” because the entire NYC construction industry was run by the mafia at the time. Doesn’t mean there was any wrongdoing on Trump’s part, and certainly doesn’t mean that Trump himself was involved in mafia activities.
LMAO!!
Trump had no business deals with the Obama mob, the Clinton mob or organized crime in Washington, DC (aka the federal government).
Isn’t that something. 200
Hope you enjoy SC.
I once had lunch with a friend in a Mob restaurant in San Jose, ca. My friend and I were the only patrons, other than five guys that looked like something out of ‘GoodFellas’. Pretty good Italian food.
If they only knew how many people who might have voted for Cruz changed their minds because of the trashing they do of other people's candidates, they might think about it, but no they just trash, the whole day and night...
Nothing about them surprises me anymore...it just go to the nature of the beast, in this case, ‘cruz bots’....
"....Then there's long term costs such as waste disposal. I don't know if you're familiar with who runs that business but I assure you it's not the Boy Scouts."
Yes

Bwwwwaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Come on, anyone who knows anything about NYC knows nothing happens unless famila is involved.
I’m not a trump supporter, however this is just stupid.
From the article:
“Another issue that needs to be addressed in Trumpâs New York operations is the use of undocumented Polish workers to demolish the Bonwit Teller building, which made way for the Trump Tower. Only a handful of union workers from Housewreckers Local 95 were employed on the site, the vast majority were illegal Polish alien workers, toiling under inhumane conditions, and wildly underpaid. Trump and his associates were found guilty in 1991 of conspiring to avoid paying pension and welfare fund contributions.”
Hmmmm. Trump found guilty in 1991. If not true, then maybe libel?
Gwjack
The leftists insist they are eager to take on the "unelectable" Mr. Trump, but then, leftists lie a lot.
Funny stuff.
