shot guns for the first time in my life, which is sad, three months ago.
Used an M4, SCAR and Glock.
Did best with the M4. Wife did better with Glock.
It was incredible.
Not once did it enter my mind “hey, the only thing this is good for is to kill people with”
obviously, in self defense and war it must be.
But all i thought at the time was this seems like an incredibly enjoyable sport.
Even in marxist NYC/USSR there are firing ranges. And an outside chance of a permit.
I am trying.

Better late than never.
I just bought my first pistol, got my CCP and am now carrying. (Was stationed overseas a lot with the military and it wasn’t worth the hassle.) The wife decided we need another weapon in the house for when I am not there. This is a big change of heart for her. She came around after the last Paris shoot out.
Good for you. Keep at it. Glad for your fun.
Congrats! I strongly encourage you and yours to learn proper gun handling techniques. Trigger finger discipline, where to point muzzle at rest, etc. Guns are an important and fun pastime, but the respect and discipline must be there.
I encourage you to try out the shooting sports like International defensive pistol association and IPSC. You’ll have fun and find plenty of people that will help you out. Later try a 3 gun match. I’m glad to hear you enjoy shooting.
