NAIROBI, Kenya--A passenger who boarded a commercial plane in a wheelchair may have been a suicide bomber responsible for an explosion that tore a hole in the side of the jet as it took off from Somalia's capital, a Western diplomat briefed on the investigation said. Investigators' theory is that the man was able to use the wheelchair to bypass rigorous security screening in Mogadishu and then detonated a bomb that ripped a hole in the fuselage but failed to down the plane. The force of the blast ejected the alleged bomber from the cabin and his body fell to earth near the town of Balad, about 20 miles from Mogadishu, where it was recovered by authorities.

Well, I’m glad his suicide plan worked out for him.
I can’t get article. How many others were hurt, killed and/or sucked out?
I hope it was just the bomber. And I hope it didn’t kill him instantly. I hope he had enough time during his journey to earth to come to the realization that he failed to kill anyone else and that there would be no 72 virgins for him.
Anytime something like his happens several group factors enter in, and want to blame it on something that doesn't reflect badly on them.
For example; the maker of the plane wants it to be something external, and not related to the construction of the plane.
The Insurance co. wants it to be something they don't have to take a big monetary hit on.
The airline wants it to be something that will not kill it's business. ETC.
So there will be all kinds of speculation on the cause.
I thought the Exploding Oxygen Bottle reason was a good diversion. But when they find explosive remnants, the story narrows.
Now it will be was it a disgruntled person with no connection to Islam; or is it Islamic terrorism. -Tom
Oh I sure he fell amongst a group of young nubile camels...
sweet
was hoping it was him
Buh bye!
Of course it was a terrorist bomb. Fortunately, he only took out himself. Martyr fail!
So now they will make the disabled dismantle their wheelchairs to pass airport security.
An easier way: just ban all muzziys from all airplanes.
Yep, muslim trying to kill other muslims.
Religion of pieces.
I laughed at the part of the article that describes the “rigorous security” in Mogadishu.
I love a story with a happy ending.
Its to bad a parachutist couldn’t have jumped with him to get some good footage of him burning all the way down.
A Muslim did it? Only Obama would be surprised.

Looking elsewhere other than WSJ, Times of India article opens with;
MOGADISHU: Investigators believe a bomb probably caused the onboard explosion that forced an Airbus A321 to return to the Somali capital of Mogadishu for an emergency landing this week, US government sources said on Wednesday.According to US government sources...One man was killed by the blast on Tuesday on the Daallo Airlines plane, officials said. Local authorities north of Mogadishu said the body of a man, believed to have been sucked out through the hole in the fuselage made by the blast, was found in their area.
Ok, I guess.
A bit further on in the article, some confirmation of there just being one "missing" (what a euphemism!) passenger...
Daallo Airlines, which did not refer to a blast, said on its website that the "incident" that caused a hole in the fuselage happened when the plane was 15 minutes into the flight."Pilots managed to land the aircraft back (in) Mogadishu Airport safely and without any further incident. All passengers, except one, disembarked safely," it said, adding an investigation into "the cause of one missing passenger" was on.
Could you imagine? The aircraft you're on has an explosion of some kind blow a hole in the fuselage (adherents of the Religion of Pieces the numero Uno usual suspects) and for an emergency landing, of all the airstrips and gin-joints in the world, you're going BACK to Mogadishu?
Ok, ok, it was from where you'd just departed from, and so was the closest landing strip, and the aircraft did make it safely back on the ground...
But when first turning back, I think I know what would not be running through my own mind;

“...rigorous security screening in Mogadishu...”
Uh huh
“I laughed at the part of the article that describes the “rigorous security” in Mogadishu.”
I had a good chuckle at that, too. I realize this was an intra-African flight, but it’s amazing they let flights from some countries in US airspace at all.
Good points. Looks like it would be easy to examine the body to see if it had the same residue of the explosives found on the plane.
