I haven’t watched the Academy Awards in years, not since I busted a hotel TV remote control watching Whoopie Goldberg host and had no idea this young lady could actually sing. If she’s smart as well as talented she will perform the Anthem respectfully and as if she means it. It will expand her audience considerably.

She can sing and sing well. Much better than some I could think of.

She is actually a very good signer IMO, she has a great voice when signing standards and sings them seriously.

I was very impressed when she did the Julie Andrews/Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars, much better, way better than I anticipated it would be. And she looked quite beautiful if only she had covered up the tats.

Lady Gaga - Sound of Music (Oscars, 2015) - HQ

And

Lady Gaga - New York, New York (Live From Sinatra 100)

If she doesn't dress in some sort of weird and freaky outfit, doesn't add or delete lyrics or make any political statements while signing it and sings it "straight", she might actually do a good job. We shall see.

Watched her vid with Tony Bennett. She looked normal except her hair was dyed bright blue. The vid can also be seen in a reversed version which sounds much better given the wacky politics of both of them.

Gaga will either sing the National Anthem straight or she will add about two hundred extra ad lib notes. Wait - she’s not an eight year old African-American child soloist so she might do it as originally written.

This is some of her BING page.

The last line is the part that really gets me.

Pretty decent work for a 29 year old.

It’s so uplifting when an America hating socialist bi-sexual sings our national anthem. I guess they couldn’t get Sean Penn or Cher so they had to settle for Gaga.

They’re thinking she’s got a big audience and is generally pretty good at understanding her situation and adjusting the performance and costume accordingly.

You know. I hated her until she got with Tony Bennet.

She's probably more Conservative than Tony Bennett.

True, Bennett is a loon politically. But he is also a combat veteran of WW II. He saw a lot of action in closing days of the war, as the Allies pushed across the Rhine. And he said that the experience turned him into a pacifist. So unlike Michael Moore, etc., Bennett is the real deal. Very misguided perhaps, but the real deal.

The same was true of Howard Zinn. He flew bombing missions over Europe, which turned him into a pacifist. He probably did more damage to this country than anyone else most Americans have never heard of.

They aren’t worried about entertaining the vast majority of football fans, those people are already going to tune in and watch the game. They’re trying to hook some other fans, get them to watch the anthem and maybe they’ll stick around, and even if they don’t stick around they’ll see a couple dozen commercials before the anthem finally shows up.
