Ben Carson and his closest advisers are going nuclear against Ted Cruz and his campaign for spreading false rumors that he intended to drop out ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
Carson's close friend and adviser Armstrong Williams told The Hill in an interview on Wednesdaythat the Cruz campaign’s tactics were 'nasty, brutal and deceitful.'
'We've been told all along that Cruz's operatives play dirty and were capable of this stuff, but Dr. Carson never believed it, he felt like they had a respectable operation,' Williams said. 'Now we see firsthand that having integrity just doesn't matter to them. It's about honor and character, either you have it or you don'.t'
Williams said he's certain that Cruz knew the rumors about him dropping out were false but says the Texas Republican allowed his underlings to spread it anyway.
'He's a pure politician and will do anything to win,' Williams said. 'It doesn't matter who he does it to, friend or foe, whatever it takes to win. Cruz has been running as an outsider and calling Hillary Clinton dishonest. Well, Cruz is the one running without honor or integrity, and this shows he's just like everyone else inside-the-beltway.'
Carson has demanded Cruz fire those responsible for spreading the rumor, but Cruz has said he won't do that.
"After all the candidates worked so hard, and Dr. Ben Carson had a staff member lose his life working towards this day, to have someone like Cruz and his people deceive and spread falsehoods is unconscionable," Williams said.

While not enamored with this trick, Romney pulled and the GOPe would pull this type of crap in a second to eliminate the conservatives from this race. In some ways, it is good to know that there is a conservative in this race who can play dirty.
Politics ain’t bean bag. Trump is a fighter, Cruz is a fighter and Rubio will have the GOPe behind him. Lest anyone think that the way to the nomination and the White House is by being as pure as the wind driven snow:

Carson needs to make up his mind.
Yesterday he said it was CNN that reported he was quitting the campaign, no today it’s Cruz’ fault.
Carson is just mad that many of his team quit and went to Cruz.
I wasn’t aware there was a Team Carson left. Hadn’t most of his political staff jumped ship long ago?

Meet Ted’s ex-CIA PR guy, Dan P. Gabriel. Gabriel is involved in SIGINT aka interception - which is turned into propaganda. His twitter handle is @danpgabriel and he was one of the people pushing the angle that it was confirmed to the Cruz campaign that Carson was dropping out. After called out on the lie, the agent deleted the tweet and denies everything in typical spook fashion:
All of Carson's SuperPAC in NH quit over the weekend, and then his team tells CNN Carson is leaving the caucuses early to go home to Florida and will be "taking a break" from campaigning (at least that is what was first reported). And with all of that, William's is "certain" that Cruz knew all of that didn't indicate Carson might be dropping out?
And has Carson expressed ANY outrage at Rubio? If not, why not?
Again...just because you accept an apology does NOT mean you don’t expect there to be consequences.
In fact, the mark of a real apology is that the apologizer attempts to make some kind of restitution. That is the biblical way, and Cruz and Carson are both biblical Christian candidates....at least they say that.
The actions of Ted "Nixon" Cruz contradict both claims.
Note also he apologized without holding his staff accountable. I've come to believe he knew about the mailer. Knew about the text indicating Carson was dropping out. This man has situational ethics.
A number of his staff left before the Iowa election. They accused him of being a phony. I discounted it at the time. Now I understand what they said they witnessed.
Although Reagan is who he mimics verbally, Nixon is his role model on action.

No Carson and Trump are not the “inept” ones. They did not pull dirty crap like the Cruz camp did.
I remember what someone told me; “When someone hands you their head on a platter - why not take it?”
That is what Ted did, he handed ammunition to his opponents. Not smart. “Principled” Ted isn’t. He just blew that to smithereens. That dog don’t hunt no more.
One affected delegate count and the other didn’t. Who called him a pedophile?
