Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz said he will not discipline staffers who spread a rumor that Ben Carson was going to drop out of the race in an attempt to get Carson supporters to caucus for Cruz in Iowa. Cruz appeared on the Mike Gallager Show on Wednesday and talked about staffers who pushed a report that Carson wasn't going on to campaign in New Hampshire or South Carolina.

No action from me for Cruz now either.
No one left to vote for so...see tagline.
[ about 4 PM or so, CNN tweeted that Cruz was going to Florida for R&R.
It was re-tweeted by Team Rubio at about 6:30 PM
Team Cruz re-tweeted it near the start of the caucus at about 7 PM. ]
Fox is not saying jack about Rubio re-tweeting it...
He better thump his Bible a little harder, cheat a little more, threaten the voters with more exposure and shout the name of Jesus a little louder in front of the cameras.
St. Cruz, patron saint of liars.

After all the news yesterday, my husband and I decided to watch the Godfather movies for the next few nights, to make us feel a little better.
In the Godfather, you can figure out good guy vs. bad guy, right?
Politics, much more difficult!
But see, they are. They wanted the big scoop, and ran with speculation when they shouldn’t have. Why the hell is that Cruz’s problem? I would have done the same damn thing they did, and I wouldn’t have apologized for it.
True. Good point.
I just think that information of that magnitude would not be readily swallowed by the average bear who goes out on a cold Iowa night in January to caucus for their man.
The internet is so pervasive that any claim like that could be verified quickly.
And when he does, like regarding these election dirty tricks, you folks cry and whine. He throws the blows but you folks can't deal with it.
Did you expect Trump, Carson etc., to remain silent?
After hearing the CNN broadcast and reading the tweets and emails.
I think absolutely nothing unethical happened.
Carson is totally wrong and is himself being unethical now.
It was polite but unnecessary for Cruz to apologize.
Fixed.
Ummm...I watched Trump on MorningJoe, this morning, and that’s exactly what he said....that his ground game wasn’t as good as it could’ve been, because he wasn’t even expected to do well there (w/evangelicals...which, he actually did quite well with, after all!).
So, maybe St Raphael will stop ‘preying’ so hard and will “man up” and start praying that he can rely on above board winning, rather than shady and snaky tactics.
Straight out of the James Carville playbook. Carson said today that if Cruz didn’t fire someone that means Cruz agreed with the slimy tactics. This is going to get interesting. Should make for a lively debate. Carson is so pissed he might bring his hammer!
At some point today he said he forgave Cruz and his team.
What an election season...
If Cruz fired some of those people and threw them under the bus, they’d do the same to him. That’s why no one was held responsible.
that right there is a very strange move...who don't go prepared? He flew out to Florida to pick up some clean clothes?
Are there not cleaners in those towns anywhere, does he not think to maybe purchase some new ones. both those actions is a lot cheaper that flying out on the campaigns money. Does he not think to go prepared.....
There is more to this than meets the eye right now, but it will come forth sooner or later.
When his staffers heard they were saying that Carson had quit, why didn't they stop the voting at that moment and clarify Carsons actions. That would have given the people who may have changed their votes to make a correction back to Carson.
Meanwhile Rubio is sitting back watching all this licking his chops. I didn't do nuttin...hmmmm?
Carson is obviously a noob.
I think the big dogs exploited that. If I was them, I wouldn’ta done it.
But I don’t think it affected the election results, especially as far as Trump was concerned.
Whatever happened is between Carson, Cruz and Rubio. Trump is currently making a fool of himself over this. If Trump doesn’t get back to basics, his campaign is going to be short lived.
No true conservative ever takes CNN's word as the gospel truth.
"Would I lie?" |
The most interesting thing to me today is to see the number of posts from people defending the latest dirty trick from the Cruz team. Cruz has hired a pack of deception experts to lead his campaign. He has taken sleazy politics a step beyond what we have come to expect from the Clintons and Obama. He is posing as a non-tithing devout Christian and the purest conservative in the race. Yet we have a bunch of people claiming to be pure conservatives here who condone his actions and are blaming the victims even calling them stupid. What gives?
There's CNN,Carson, Cruz, Trump...where's waldo?
I am beginning to suspect Rubio is in the undercurrent of this along with CNN and perhaps with Carson's knowledge.
It will be interesting to see who Carson backs should he drop out. If he goes Rubio, I think we have the answer to the present problem.
Yeah but, you are an thinking adult.
