The bromance has long ended and the bitter battle is only beginning to rage between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz as the Republican presidential primary devolves into a slugfest now that the crowded field is winnowing down to let the dominate contenders duke it out leading into the New Hampshire primary.
But first, the results of Monday's Iowa caucus continue to be a point of contention days after Cruz was declared the winner.
On Tuesday, Cruz was forced to apologize to Ben Carson's campaign for misleadingly suggesting to caucusing supporters that the retired neurosurgeon planned to drop out of the race in an apparent effort to corral additional voters to the Cruz camp. Carson actually only intended to return to Florida to change clothes before eventually returning to the campaign trail.
After initially shocking observers when he appeared to accept defeat with a modicum of graciousness Monday night, Trump decided to lash out at Cruz Wednesday, tweeting that a "either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified"
Trump amplifying Carson's allegations of "dirty politics" played by the Cruz campaign surely wasn't what was expected when Cruz admitted fault while still defending his campaign's action as "fair game." After all, the Cruz campaign initially denied the allegations.
"For months, my campaign has survived the lies and dirty tricks from opponents who profess to to detest the games of the political class, but in reality are masters at it," Carson complained on Monday before citing various "political tricks" by the Cruz campaign.
During an interview with right wing radio host Mike Gallagher today, Cruz walked back much of his admission of guilt and shifted blame to the liberal media for turning Carson against him.

That is the GOPe’s last ticket, and they arent going to have another Bush on their hands.
So, it looks like CNN tweeted it at 6:50 PM and Team Cruz re-tweeted it 10 minutes later.
How is that an intentional fraud?
They simply re-posted an inaccurate tweet.
So here is the timeline again:
4:43 CNN says Carson not going to NH/SC, but going home to Florida and then the prayer breakfast
6:29 Rubio repeats
7:00 Cruz repeats
7:30 CNN says it again
I’m really not sure why Cruz is getting slammed for this.
“Ugh. So typical of Cruz to flip flop......so he went from I didn’t know, to oh, to really? to sorry to never mind, we didn’t do anything. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.”
Just like a Hillary clone! Obfuscate, dance, lie!
Cruz needs to stop getting into these traps and ignore them.....he’ll never silence the rants of a 70 year old mister accustomed to throwing kissy fits....who will do so for any reason if he gets his brand to continue to be front page.....the only thing Trump will protect is his brand....if he sees that being affected he’ll drop out so fast heads will spin......until then he just keeps playing his game......he is such an embarrassment to this country and it’s people.

Cruz was late to the game, actually.
End of the month, maybe in March.

And are you also outraged at Rubio who said the same thing, 30 minutes earlier?
Yeah, Mr. Principled Conservative and devout Christian proves to be just another situational ethicist. Each passing day reveals Mr. Cruz more fully to us.
I don't want him to take that lead for granted.

So, CNN is the source of the rumor which gullible Rubio and Cruz team members picked up and re-tweeted.
Still does not look like a case of intentional fraud or malice to me.
Hey CNN is “supposed to be” ( note the quotes ) synonymous with “breaking ( again, note the quotes ) news.
