One of the key metrics on the strength of a campaign is how well their fundraising, and allocation of resources are going. In that measure Ted Cruz's campaign is on fire. According to FEC reports, for the most recent filing period, Ted Cruz had more cash on hand than the Republican National Committee.
For the period ending on December 31, 2015 Cruz reported having $18,734,794.46 cash on hand. For the same end date the Republican National Committee had $18,723,782 on hand. Cruz had about $11,000 more in his war chest than the RNC. It shows a particular strength for his campaign.
Part of the cash on hand equation is how well a campaign has managed their resources. The ratio of money spent to money raised is know as a campaign's burn rate. Going into the heat of the primary season, Cruz's burn rate is the lowest of all candidates. He has spent just 60.6% of what he has raised.
So while Ben Carson has raised more money, he has burned through it at a much faster rate than Cruz. Carson has spent 88% of what he has raised, mostly on direct mail, which allowed him to raise the money in the first place.
Going into the home stretch of the nominating contests, here is a ranking of the current candidates cash on hand as reported to the FEC...

Actually, Trump has been the most conservative spender....
Plus he has really cool hats! :^) LOL
No, we need yet another law clerk lawyer turned politician!
Lets do something unusual this time and get real change. Lets back these professional career politicians!
They’ll turn this disaster around, right?
People want to make America free again and end the tyranny, but they don’t want to pay for it. That defies Common Sense.
What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.- Thomas Paine
LOL...
Meanwhile, crony campaign capitalism is on full display....as well as pay to play...and all of the other DC cesspool games/tactics we’ve all been enraged about, over the past decade.
Ted Cruz, I’m lukewarm about. If he wins the nomination, I’ll vote for him. Same with Trump. But any other Republican is better than those two clowns.
I think we’ll see it’s all downhill now for Cruz.
Yeah, but if it’s repeated enough...
Trump has made this into a personal war with Cruz. He thought Cruz would fold like all the rest. He was obviously wrong, as Cruz is now the frontrunner.
Candidate with the next most cash on hand is Marco, who spent a lot more per vote in Iowa than Ted. But then Marco may be getting Jeb’s donors and be able to afford that. Until Marco also inherits Jeb’s consultants.
I hope the RNC and NRCC runs out of money.
Well I am glad that Cruz has plenty of money. Black Ops experts and their minions don't come cheap.
As far as Ted now being the “frontrunner” and not just the slime ball who stole the Iowa Caucus with dirty tricks and lies... Front runner where? I would like to see a link to some supporting evidence for that whopper. Till then it sounds more like you share the same allegiance to the truth as Ted.
Palin hating, or Cruz derangement syndrome. All I know is this has been the most enjoyable election cycle in my lifetime. I am happy with the insurgency candidates.
I received a second solicitation from the RNC for a donation.
“Ted Cruz is raking in big-money support, special interests who think theyâll get what they need from Cruz because they will own him.”
How does that work, since we’ve been told ad nauseum that all the fat cats hate Ted?
It’s late but I’ll try to send you list of donors tomorrow, lots of “fat cats”

The General is coming so am glad he’s not burning through it. He’s got such an organized campaign and good people standing with him to see that it goes accordingly....I am so impressed! I know the team makes certain there are specific targets, places and timing of what they do.....I hope they continue with this....even so they are flexible should the need be so to change course should they hit speed bumps.
And his wife is part of Goldman-Sachs high level management.
Much more involved than someone like you is even aware of. Deny all you like but Cruz will not curry enough favor with the public going forward to even leave tread marks on the pavement.
Watch and see.
She is a head of one of the minor regions for management investing. That isn’t part of the top officials. It’s upper management, sure, but not near the top of the pyramid.
I thought conservatives were supposed to respect people who excelled at their jobs and used their talents to earn a living for their families, but I guess everyone needs to get the stamp of approval from Freepers before they can take a job with a big company.
Or is this simply guilt by association?
If she works for Goldman-Sachs, then she must be part of their inner workings!
By that logic, since I have a credit card from Chase, and I used to have one from Bank of America, that means that I am part of the Wall Street cabal as well.
Oh noes!!!!!!
