Tea Party-backed Senate candidate Ted Cruz points with pride to the army of small conservative donors supporting him. But his largest longtime contributor is a gay billionaire who supports same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization, campaign finance filings show.
Peter Thiel, a German-born hedge fund manager and founder of the online payment system PayPal, gave Cruz $251,000 in 2009 for his aborted run for attorney general. The money represented 19 percent of the total raised for that campaign, which Cruz ended after Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to run for re-election.
Thielâs political and financial support for gay rights and legal marijuana, among other causes, have made him a lightning rod in the U.S. Senate race. donations from Thiel show Cruz is âdeceivingâ Texans about his political alliances.
Itâs hypocritical and deceitful for Ted Cruz to claim to be a Tea Party Republican when his largest donor spends millions of dollars pushing the opposite side of conservative issues important to Republicans
Thiel is listed as a member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg group, which stages a yearly gathering that brings together influential world leaders in politics, business and other fields to discuss international affairs. The secret meetings have prompted protests by activists who allege they are being staged to create a new world order and capitalist domination.
Glenn Addison, who was in the GOP Senate primary but didnât make the runoff, said the Bilderberg connection worries him.
âBirds of a feather flock together,â Addison said. âI think voters need to be concerned and ask about whatever alliances people have that are running for office.â

Homosexual activity is happening in Trump-owned properties.
Well obviously he should be funded by people with no money.
Your point is?
just wow
Cruz es un Canucko.
Better or worse than donating to Democrats, Clinton Foundation, Al Sharpton, Rahm Emmanuel or cozying up with Soros for business?
So he donated something 4 years ago to an election Cruz dropped out of because the sitting Attorney General decided to run again. This has a bearing on the current election how? Because it’s the only thing you can try and stain Cruz with? Crawl back under Trumps butt cheek and try again.
Wonder what favors Peter Thiel expects in return?.
Cruz being unraveled daily. Go Trump!
Norte Americano!
Much better than Kenyan IMHO.
“He is one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency.”
Gregory T. Angelo of Log Cabin Republicans, speaking of Donald Trump.
Listen. This man has the morals of an alley cat. He is a liar and has no ethics or qualms .
Well, since Trump can morph from a Democrat to a newly-minted Republican,flip-flopping on issues along the way, one can’t get too excited about a five year old story in an obscure Texas paper. Texans weren’t too worried about this dastardly revelation, because they elected Cruz to the Senate in spite of the GOPe’s efforts at mudslinging in articles such as this.
I'm sure with you on that.
But the Canucko thing isn't going away.
Among others:-)
4/15 The dinner and âfireside chatâ for about a dozen people with Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, was at the Central Park South penthouse of Mati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner, longtime business partners who were once a couple and who have been pioneers in the gay hospitality industry.
Cruz’s father fought along with pro-Castro’s rebels and then fled to America after he was caught by the Bautista government in 1957.
Ted’s father then loved America so much he lived here on and off for almost 50 years (1957 to 2005) before he bothered to become a citizen.
That’s who taught Ted his values.
An incredibly cheap shot—a filthy smear!
The Lubbock Avalanche Journal has a problem with gay people? Or do they have a problem with gay people being wealthy?
What is it with these homophobic liberal leaning media outlets that hate money?
